New member of the family

Recommended Posts

Yesterday I picked up the newest member of the Retro family. A pup Boxer and his names "Jack Dempsey". :bthumb:

He's weighing in at a svelt 12 pounds at 6 weeks old and already taught our Shit-Tzu that this is his turf.

I love the markings on this dog. All Brown with a Black muzzel with a little white beard. He has a nice White breast plate and White paws. He's gonna be kick ass!

Kick ass. A good looking scooter and a good looking dog. A Lab and Golden Retriver were on the list of dogs to get.

My Rottwieler got ran over by a Jeep last weekend (That sucked BIG time) and the family and our Shit-Zue were all pretty bumed out. I went with the Boxer as I have heard alot of good things about them with kids, ect.  But man, this puppy is tearing the shit out of that Shit-Zue so far. He sucker punched him today and grabbed his tail and started dragging him across the front lawn.

I hope it's just the puppy in him as I assured "the waif" they would grow up to be buds.

Long story short.... I bought a Shit-Zue for my wifes birthday and then ran it over and killed it in the garage on our wedding anniversary getting ready to go out.. :banghead:

So we bought a new Shit-Zue and the Rott was cool with him, but if Jack Dempsey rips his head off I may be looking for a permanent residency down at Hunters Friend. LOL

So, How was that first night ??? It's worse than a child because you can't say "honey' I think the babys hungry. The old lady gives you the knee and says take care of YOUR DOG. When he grows up and gets the paper, gaurds the family, ect. Then the dog will be HER DOG. Well you got him on a fri. Hope you didn't have to get up @04:00 and go to work

Boxers are great kid dogs, but be warned there will come a time when you may need to punish your kid for something they did wrong, and you'll need to put the boxer up before you do it.

My uncle raised boxers and one time when he was disaplining my cousins a female boxer that had grown up with the boys, decided that wasn't cool, 14 stiches later my uncle decided she was way to proctective of the boys to get rid of, but always made sure she was put up before he raised a hand.

Hey Dave;

We had one just like that when we were kids.

Dad had to lock her in the closet when we needed a whipping.

She would come out with an attitude when it was all over.

Good dogs!

YOU COULDN'T HAVE PICKED A BETTER PUP , BUT LISTEN TO WHAT EVERYONE IS SAYING ABOUT BEING PROTECTIVE. THEY ARE PROBABLY THE MOST LOYAL DOGS ON THE PLANET AND PROBABLY SOME OF THE SMARTEST. WE HAD TWO UNTIL LAST WEEK, WE LOST OUR OLDEST BOY SAM, IT'S BEEN A LITTLE ROUGH AROUND HERE. IT'S AMAZING HOW ATTACHED YOU GET. BE PROUD OF YOUR NEW PUP, HE LOOKS LIKE A GOOD BOY

:D

Not to brag, and aint lying either.

We have 32 dogs, yes 32. an American Bulldog he is the sweetest kindest most noble dog ive ever meet 120lbs albino,

a Dalmata, A basset hound, a pomeranian, a dobberman rottweiller mix she is the best guard security dog,

2 quassi papillions,2 poodles, the rest all mixed and match mutts most of them strays that my wife picks up

here and there and some people cant take care of them

and end up here with us.Our latest and to me my most precious is a 2 month old Akita that we bought the first and

only dog we have ever bought. We got an akita before given to us by a breeder that had to move to the States and

we where in love with her she was with us for about a year she was 2years old beatifull lovely playful creature and one

day as my wife came back from work she

found her hanging from her leach over the fence 6 foot fence

she jumped and the chain got cut up in one of the 2 by 4rs

and she was dead still soft if we had come half hour earlier

maybe wouldnt have happened, anyway it was devastating

the last time I ever felt such sorrow was when my

grandmother died about 15 years ago. Be carefull

with your pets give them as much love as you can today

cause you never know.It brings tears to my eyes

every time I think about her. Anyway since we had become so much in love with the Akita breed we started searching for one female her lookalike and we did found one 2 month ago

carbon copy of Casey. That was her name for short it was

actually Case Loaded Weapon, we name the new one

the same she is the same I say if you believe in reincarnation

this is a live example. Sorry Im so stupid dont know how to

post pictures ,but someday Ill learn and post and show you.

For all of you non pet lovers sorry all the blah, blah you

probably dont care for, but Pet lovers do understand .

Some of us are passionate about other than bikes,

Us here Motorcycles ,Cats and Dogs.

forgot to mention 30 Cats, make up a cat thread and we talk about that there. :rotfl:

Take care and ride safe.

PS did you know the Akita breed is 3000 years old?

they are revered in Japan considered a National Symbol

of Pride, so much like a National Monument.

Amazing Animals.

Retro, congratulations on your new family member

he is cute puppy.

There is a company now that will take the DNA from your pet so you can make a clone of it.

Scary shit, but true!

Brothers as long as there are Dogs, and as long as there are men, Men will mourn the short lives of their best friends.

I've said good by to many a companion over the years, there all special and there all different, but I would never want a clone, some times it's best to remember how good they were.

Ariel, I too have an Akita, 120lb female, but one thing that I will caution you about, is this breed is dominate, and while perhaps one of the best social animals I have known with people they are not too good with other animals, if the other animals are also dominate. Males and Females both tend to be Alpha pack leaders. She's a true preditor, stalks silently to bag her prey, Coon's, possoms and what not.

I have to keep my 8yr old Akita seperate at all times from my 4 yr old Chow, I guess thats what I get from having a Jap war dog and a Chinese war dog under the same roof. Something about thousands of years of fighting just don't set well with these two.

You are right about that they are they are stubborn, dominant,

hunters, chase anything that moves better if its small

and all that but since we got her 1 month old,

and they all together an in a very friendly loving

environment I think we are gonna make her into

a nice friendly dog, she sleeps in the bedroom with us

not on the bed but we do have cats and dogs living together

its amazing if you get them together since they pups.

This is like a Zoo here in our house one big happy family

humans, dogs and cats all together. One for sure inside the house Im the only Male  :rotfl:

One more thing all our pets get fixed, sterilized I mean.

Probably only the Akita we plan on breeding her

maybe once or twice then we fix her to.

Oh yeah thats one of the requirements here

you will have the best life with us but no sex,

this applies only to pets, Imaging if we dont do that..

They are our kids, My daughter is all grown up

now getting married next month.

On another note , one taught Male dogs at least ours

never hurt their females. Isnt that something for us

humans to learn.

I can go on and on in this subject, so I better

stop now, and talk bikes.

:outdoor:  Ride Safe  :Cheers[1]:

PS my wife read that Akitas and chow chows where brought to japan thousands of years ago from Korea and China,

interesting stories ,this breeds are fascinating.

Sayonara now.
