A man who led officers on a wild high-speed pursuit on freeways and surface streets has come to a violent end in Long Beach. Officers shot the man after he jumped out of the car that had come to a stop in a restaurant parking lot. He appeared to reach for a weapon when officers opened fire. The man's condition is not known. Police say the pursuit began in Long Beach shortly after 5 p-m with a report of a stolen car. The pursuit moved north, then south on the Harbor Freeway, to San Pedro, then back to Long Beach. At one point, it appeared the chase had come to an end when the driver crashed into a guardrail on a Harbor Freeway offramp, but the driver sped away. yakuza Posted May 15, 2005 Share Posted May 15, 2005 Last week we had a nice little chase down here on 595. Bad guy swiped 4 to 5 cars. Kids lives being put at risk, ect, ect. The part that really impressed me was the restraint that the cops had at the end of the pursuit. The guy was proned out and two officers handcuffed him while one kept a bead on him. Now fast forward to LA, 10 to 15 cops jump on the perp and at least one of them is kicking the shit out of him. What I was saying was, it doesn't matter who you are, no one should be any more protected by the law than anybody else. That just isn't right in our country. Don't you really agree with that? Or would you rather see what we have now? Money buys you more justice, fame buys you more justice, being in a certain job description buys you more justice. That's just f'n wrong in my book. Your family is no more important to you than other families that have had their family member taken from them, no matter what their job was.
