Getting closer to the alcan

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone...

Been having a real hard time getting online during this trip...but wanted to let ya'll know that I am havng an awesome trip. Am in Salt Lake City tonight, getting bike serviced, near rear tire and detailed in AM. Rode without a windshield for 20 years, never realized how many bugs I wore...LOL

Stayed last nite at Grand Canyon, my favorite place in the USA. Anyone that hasn't been there needs to put that one on your list.  Heading to Great Falls in AM, depending on weather, departure time and road conditions whether I go thru the Tetons and Yellowstone. Then to Calgary, going to hook up with some IIRA guys there for a drink, then on to the BIG highway...Will try and keep ya'll posted, maybe, just maybe this wireless thing will work 2 days in a row :Spanish: want to thank everyone who has contacted me with offers of everything. When I am in Florida, ya'll are welcome there :Cheers[1]:

Kat,

It's currently snowing in Yellowstone.  Forecast for tomorrow is snow until 11AM when it warms up enough to turn into rain.  Hope the trip's going well.  Say hi to the Calgary guys for me.  Good luck.

Got email today and Kat is in Alberta....says having great time but may have to fly into Alaska as she was told all the gas stations are closed along the ALCAN...

I hope she does not have to end her ride because of fuel prices or shortages...but hell that is Alaska...they are on oil reserve...hahahahahaha.

Damn, that's a shame.  Let me know if she wants the phone numbers of some of the gas stops along the way to make sure as I can look them up in the Milepost for her.

Got another update...snowed there yesterday so waiting til later today to see if it melts off.  Apparently found that some gas stations were going to be available so she bought a gas can to strap to her bike as back up too....

Planning on heading out later today...guy that is riding from Alberta wants to buy an electric vest before straddling his bike for the ride....PUSSY!!!!! LOL

Oh well....she is living large and safe and sound.... :bwaver:

6500 miles later Kat has arrived safely at her destination.  Not setup with her own computer yet but made the trip with no big problems...said it was experience of lifetime and she was apparently first biker on ALCAN for 2005.

She says she will post when things settle down and she rests... :Spanish:

Got an e-mail from Kat today.  Still no details on the ride other than she loved it to death.  I'm trying to get some pictures out of her.  If I do, I'll post them.
