Identity crisis

hey guys, i'm very close to buying an 03 vintage.does anyone know where i can an owner's manual? the bike also has a smog canister on it, what the eff is that? can it be removed easily? where can i get accessories for the bike?  does anybody know how many 03 red / black vintages were made? there's nothing worse than spending 30 g's on a bike and then seeing your  kid's pediatrician riding the same effin bike! (s.e road king ).i'm sick of my h. d.'s getting lost in the parking lot. i don't want the same thing  to happen with the indian.  should i get the corrective engine work done asap? or wait till or if there's a problem? i hope this indian is everything you guys say it is. i can't wait to get it.     thanks      rob w. :D

Go get a case of beer or whatever your favorit beverage is, run the kids out of the house, go to the Power Plus Chiefs section and spend a day or 2 reading. You'll catch on.

Congratulations on picking out a very fine looking Chief. If you look in the Mechanicle section of this forum follow the links for Homers web pages. There you can down load all the manuals and more all for free :) . I would get the Black Hawk oil pump 1st. You will find Franks web page/phone info all over this forum. Accessories can be had almost anywhere, like here for instance. IMC. Welcome to the forum. Now most importantly click on the links to "Join the IIRA" Ride Safe, AW  :moped:

Dude..I'll sell you Marge for 28k and buy another!! (not really)....you'll luv it, you can find most info at my site and here in the forums, i'll even send you a disc with all the manuals and crap on it..you can ebay for parts and most can be found except maybe the caliper cover..if you buy it, i'll even trade you a 2 up seat for your solo seat  :nod:

i'm talking about 30 g's for  my sreaming eagle road king. out of the show rm. it was 27. add some more crome, rinehart exhaust (800.00), detachable tour pak,ext.. and it's well over 30g's. the thing that sucks is that ya can't swing a bat without hitting one. at least where i live anyway.

ok, looked it up 05 screamin eagle rk, it is 30k msrp!

That would be like buying a bigdog/titan, whatever. They are in the paper "pre-owned" for half to a third what they cost. At least the Gilroys don't do anything close to that.

i think as best i can remember i found about 700 vins for vintages..

i think i got that from the headlight recall thing...course the logic to the vins kinda fell apart...

ok, looked it up 05 screamin eagle rk, it is 30k msrp!

That would be like buying a bigdog/titan, whatever. They are in the paper "pre-owned" for half to a third what they cost. At least the Gilroys don't do anything close to that.

i have to admit, the new indians are holding there value.considering the co. is  out of business,with no warranty,all the reported problems, it's hard to find one for under 20k

We have a member who has put a LOT of money into his Chief and still has all the stock parts. He is selling it for $19,000 obo

My Chief, before the Malfa treatment, gave 103's a solid go. Carb to carb, I got bit out of the hole, but it was see ya sucker up top. That may be that their internal operator rev limiter kicks in a touch lower on the pin than mine, at least that was the excuse I got.

Had a tricked 103 effie last fall that had me all the way but never put any real air between us. I had a good buck and change on the other guy, so I still swear that me and Jenny Craig coulda took him.

Now I'm getting cocky. I expect my current setup to spank any SE motor weight or no weight, even down low where I'm running a taller sprocket. Plus a Vintage at speed looks waay meaner than a RK, I don't care how many of Willie G.'s trinkets they slap on it.

I'll know soon enough. The pusher for the ironheads on a site I got a crew at has one of those yellow factory SE RK's and his buds were all drooling over it the other day. I mentioned that perhaps if he were willing to come across the border(roadracing in Massachusetts is frowned upon) I might give him a reason to have spent that 30. We'll see if he's willing to dance.

For the question Re: "how many Vintages were made?"  Since I've purchased mine I added a section on my spreadsheet (where I track items purchased and service for my bike) to track vintage numbers as I come across them.  It's not much but below is what I've gathered so far.

 

#18 - Seen 4-Sell at Ramp Moters (04/03/2005) (Don't remember the color)

 

#65 - Indain Public Forum.  "TribalChief"

 

#93 - Spotted on E-bay - Morris, Illinoise (forget the color)

 

#185 - Indian Public Forum.  "Homer" (Red, and even though we've never met, I don't like him for that very fact alone 'cause I wanted a red one.)  :-)

 

#229 - Mine  (Black.  Like all other bikes)

 

#506 - Spotted on E-Bay  (Seller located  in Hawaii.  Don't remember the color.)

 

#559 - Sold at DC Cruisers (Gaithersburg MD.  custom paint)

#595 would be a Red with Brown leather (and lots of fringe-just check my profile page!!)

Running a Malfa motor and just enjoying the hell out of it!!

Wait till you see the CUSTOM TEE SHIRT I'M DOING!!

AND--I know where there are 2 more brand new ones still on the dealer floor.

Both Red--one black leather--one brown leather.

so ya don't like me huh...and i even gave you a good number based on logic (700)...

oh...and there was one other RED vintage that had a lower number than mine that came to my dealer at the same time...it was sold to an Indian casino and i think raffled off to a winner in TX..
