Guest_ikonboard
I gotta tell ya , I aint much of a Bill liker either but I gotta give him credit! He had Jane Fonda on his show last night ! Bill said " But Jane you gotta feel the pain you caused the Vietnam vets , right and you are sorry for what you did ?" Jane stops him in mid sentence and says " Oh! Oh no , I dont apologise at all , I feel what I did was right and theres hundreds of Vietnam vets (Hundreds ?) that agree with me , the war was wrong!" Bill says , I agree the war was wrong , but dont you agree the way you acted was negative towards the troops ? Jane ," Oh no , I never did anything that upset the balance over there , I wasnt the first American to go over there and protest there were hundreds (hundreds?) before me!" "I felt I had to do my part , Now I do regret the sitting on the gun turret , you see I was singing a song and laughing and dancing and the next thing I knew I was sitting on that turret and they filmed , afterwards I thought , oh my they will crucify me for that!" Well worth watching the repeat ! For the two liberal pussies who think life just goes its course watch this ! I bet niether of you ever put your ass on the line! I was a Marine too young for Vietnam , but many of my friends were there and many of familys friends were there and didnt come home ! Janes own words : I was singing and dancing , smiling and having a good time ! while the POW's were being tortured ! Hey seek the wisdom , seek it somewhere else! Maybe you should buy a copy of DienCaiDau book , the wisdom you seek might be right in that book! And for the other punk , go ride your rice rocket and get the hell out of here! Thanks for the plug for my book! She didn't do anything to upset the balance??? The North Vietnamese were always telling the POWs they were criminals, NOT prisoners of war! When John Keryy protested and met with the North, they told the POWs about him and what he was doing. They said, "see..even one of your own officers say you are war criminals!" Janes own words : I was singing and dancing , smiling and having a good time ! while the POW's were being tortured ! Get it right!!! FONDA: Well, you know, the problem is we've never come to terms with the war. You know, generally, the revisionism that started during the Reagan Administration has been bought into by a lot of people in this country, and it's prevented us from learning the lessons that we were supposed to learn from the war. MAHER: Well— FONDA: And – and so they blame the anti-war movement and people like me for losing the war. It was a war we couldn't win, and five administrations knew that and sent men over there to die in spite of it. [applause] MAHER: Yeah. And I think what they would say is, “Yes, but that's something different than going to the country that was fighting us, however wrong the war would be. And I think you've acknowledged that yourself. FONDA: No. Hunh-huh, no. I went to North Vietnam . There were only 24,000 American combat troops in South Vietnam when I went in 1972, and the Nixon Administration was lying to the American people, and men were dying as a result. And I went to expose the lies and stop the bombing of the dikes, which, according to Kissinger, would have caused about 200,000 people to starve. I am proud that I went. About 300 people had gone before me to North Vietnam , Americans. The thing that I apologized for was sitting on an anti-aircraft gun. MAHER: Right. [applause] And when you see that footage, you seem to be laughing the whole time. FONDA: I was. I was laughing and clapping. I had just sung a song. They asked me to sing a song, and I sang a song. And we were laughing and clapping. And someone led me over, and I sat down – and laughing and clapping – and I got up. And as I was walking away, I realized, oh, my God, what that was going to look like. Me, who had spent years before then working with active duty American servicemen— MAHER: Right. FONDA: --Air Force, Marines, sailors. I had spent a lot of time with soldiers and listened to them, and knew their stories, and knew their wives, what their wives had to say. It's why I made “Coming Home” later, because I knew a lot about what was going on. It was servicemen that got me into the war. What I heard from them made me understand that that war was different than the war that my father had fought, the Second World War. MAHER: Yeah. What about the war that's going on now? How valid a comparison point is Vietnam , do you think, to what's going on in Iraq ? FONDA: Well, the similarity is that – based on lies. American men, and in this case, men and women—[applause]—are being sent into harm's way based on lies. This is – Vietnam was based on lies and deceit. And, you know, none of us like bullies like Saddam Hussein, you know. Not a good guy at all. There were other ways of getting rid of him, and I would be all for that. But we didn't have to kill 100,000 innocent women and children and innocent men—[applause]—in order to – in order to do that. MAHER: But we're there now. And, yes, I agree, they lied like the thieves they are, to get us into that war. But don't you think there's something more hopeful that may be going on there now than was ever possible in Vietnam ? Can't some good come out of bad? Even a lying – I mean, some people would say you have to lie to get people into any war. FONDA: No, the – no, I don't agree with that. Something may come out, but I fear very much that it's – that we've laid the groundwork for an increase in terrorism. We have prepared a fertile ground for recruiting terrorists in Iraq , where one didn't exist before we went in there. We still haven't gotten Osama bin Laden. You know, there were other ways to do it. MAHER: Yes.

homer
Back at you bro.... many of us differ in political views and shit...but no matter what, we gotta back each other. Also, I personally think that of all the vets, the ones who lived and died the Nam got the rawest deal...most did what they were told w/o question and when they finally came home they were shunned...I can't claim to know a whole lot about that era cuz i'm a lil young for that, but i do know right from wrong...and that just ain't right! even the ones who may have done something over the top (and i say may because if you ain't there, it's hard to judge) if you step back and look and are forced to choose between your AMERICAN fight bro's and ANYONE else...you gotta do what you gotta do...you live with your own demons if you do some bad shit, but isn't all fair in love and war? eric

However, if you commit traitorous acts against my beloved country, Iwould hate you, and I would spit on you. In fact, anybody that tries to weaken America and Freedom is my enemy. so far, Jane, to me, is a traitor, and is in need of a constant reminder of what she has done to our fighting men. It is one thing to protest a war, and disagree with it, it is another to aid and comfort an enemy. I do not believe that violence is an answer to anything other than self-preservation, period. Jane compromised america, and deserves to get spit on. She should have just stayed home and marched on Washington or some stupid shit like that, but don't hang out with the friggin bad guys and sing songs, and disrespect America...Is that really so hard to understand?
