Guest_ikonboard
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/7267447/ Sometimes you understand why Ice T writes the songs he does. It's the asshole PIGS like this guy. One asshole makes the lot of them look bad. Too bad the other cops can't/won't beat his ass in private to send a message. Nasty
Stupid fucking PIG...I would love to see this motherfucker sitting beside the hiway in his cruiser with a few rounds in his chest begging for help... http://www.nbc6.net/news....05&ts=H Trooper Suspended After 911 Remark Tuesday, March 22, 2005 LISBON, Conn. — A state trooper was suspended for 15 days without pay after he was recorded on a 911 tape saying "too bad" to a caller seeking help for a man injured in a motorcycle accident. State police said the dismissive answer by Trooper Robert Peasley did not affect the response time to the accident involving Justin Sawyer, 21, who died of a severe head injury a week after the crash last August. Peasley was suspended on Monday. Russell Shepard, a friend of Sawyer's, called 911, which was routed to the state police barracks in Montville. When he reported the accident, Peasley said, "Yeah ... too bad," and hung up, according to a tape obtained by WTNH-TV. Shepard said he was shocked, believing he reached a wrong number. Another friend made a second call. "Yeah," the officer responded. "Help will get there. Shouldn't be playing games." A third emergency call was answered by a different dispatcher, who asked about Sawyer's condition and advised those nearby to not touch him. "I am absolutely outraged every time I hear that `too bad' and then click," said Sawyer's father, Jim Sawyer. "I only know that I would have felt a whole lot more comfortable if I had heard people responding on the end of that 911 call with some heart and caring." Scottdog
Not that I'm trying to defend the cop but, I wonder what transpired in the first part of the phone call that we didn't get to hear and why the call from Lisbon went to Montville (20 miles away in the sticks) when the City of Norwich is only about 8 miles away. Cell phones have to be part of the blame. I called 911 once on my cell to report an accident I just witnessed in Granby, CT. but I got redirected to the police in Granby, MA., 50 miles away. The dispather was confused as hell when I was telling them the location until we figured out what had happened. Especially since route 202, that the accident was on, also went through Granby, MA. Guest_ikonboard
Just like bikers who do stupid shit and give US a bad name , theres cops out there that do stupid shit likewise ! Unfortunately this had to happen . Law Enforcement isnt an easy job , I always say when I dont feel like making life or death decisions today , then I need to call in sick! Because unlike most of you'alls jobs you dont have to make decisions that are life and death decisions , it can be very stressfull ! I am not siding with the cop , I am merely letting you know how it is , FiremanDave can tell you as well , the job gets to ya sometimes , you guys dont make a deadline at work thats not gonna effect the way the person survives in life ,but cops and fireman make decisions that effect life everyday! I am not gonna drive by a stranded cop on the road any more than I would leave a fellow biker stranded ! This is what is called an isolated incident . My guess is this guy had taken a few calls in the morning that were prank calls , and he got pissed , right after the prank calls a real call came in and the caller sounded the same ! All calls are considered emergencies , but humans react differently to different situations !
Guest_ikonboard
There are always more than 2 sides to the coin. This guy fucked up but wether or not the crime fit the punishment is not an absolute...it's an interpretation of justice, which everyone can see differently. I think they could have come down harder on him but that's just me. I also heard he has a stellar 18 year history with the CT State Police. Most of the people I ride with are active duty or retired police officers so I would normally be more sympathetic and have a tendency to side with them...not here. One of the reasons (of which there are many) it's such a tough job is BECAUSE there are no excuses. My hats off to all of them that act in our best interests. But in any given handful... And we all make mistakes..

If that fucker cant handle the pressures of his job he should quit. If a paramedic has a bad day does it make it ok for him to take his time going to a call. I understand being a cop is hard but guys like this should be booted of the force. Let someone who can handle it do the job. :veryangry:

homer
Until that one cop said "i'm sorry if his actions increased their (the family's) pain"....I don't think there was much of a civil case. If like they say there was no delay in getting help, and if he woulda died anyways.. the cop sounds like an ass anyway...and a "stellar 18 yr career" to a dirty rotten copper mite not be stellar to some of us... eric

However, "a "stellar 18 yr career" to a dirty rotten copper mite not be stellar to some of us..." I heard that reported in a statement released from the Ct State Police. It was not the opinion of the officer in question. His opinion at this point would obviously be suspect!

FiremanDave
We'll never know what kind of day the officer was having, or if he's just an asshole in general, yes the job can get to you, but the voice on the phone is the first step in calming and reassuring the public. There's a lot of BS in public safey jobs, but it's part of what we do. The difference between telling a potential customer or client off, and being discourteous to the public when your a public safety officer, is that we do not lump all sales people into the same catogory when we met them, but we do tend to do so with Fire and Police. That being said we are held to a higher standard, it might not be right but we know that going in. If you can't live up to that standard then perhaps you need to take a close look at your choice in jobs, or get the help you need (I.E. counciling) to live up to that standard. What he did was wrong, it gives a lot of folks a black eye, and is certainly conduct unbecoming an officer.
johnh
Maybe it should be a crime... kind of like driving by the scene of an accident if no one else has come along. He was the responder. He is on public payroll. He has obvious disdain for the public. So the public should fire him.

Firefinder
Let me make a couple of points that won't change anyones mind. How many folks saw the whole rodney king tape? The part where he was tossing police like they were rag dolls. I did...not on TV though, why is that? They shouldn't have beat King so bad, but after watching the tape....It ain't right but I understand how it happened. I read on the net yesterday that they have had real problems with kids racing and crashing their crotch rockets on this stretch of road. After you've scraped up several of these kids, you start to think....to bad...shouldn't of been racing. This is a bad attitude, it ain't right, but I understand. OK, now yall can attack me... :veryangry: One other thing, be careful. I've been in Law Enforcement for 20+ years. The last 15 or so working bombings and arsons. I've arrested over a dozen firemen for setting arson fires. This doesn't make FiremanDave a bad guy. Let's not generalize.... One aside...Why was this fine trooper working the 911 desk? Usually that is reserved for civilians cause they pay them less and keeps more cops on the street. Cops hate to dispatch. I wonder if he was being punished for something else.:uhoh: OK, now you can attack

People also seem to forget that there were 4 others in the car with him that were not touched. I do not care what color the person was who did what King did, they would have been beat. It's just when a white guy gets beat no one cares.
