Pearl hoel died...

Recommended Posts

STURGIS, S.D. - Pearl T. Hoel, considered by many to be the first lady of the Sturgis motorcycle rally, died Sunday in Sturgis. She was 99.

Her husband, John Clarence "Pappy" Hoel, who died in 1989, is credited with starting the annual event in 1938. Then known as the Black Hills Motor Classic, it attracted 200 people to a tent behind the Hoels' Indian Motorcycle dealership in Sturgis.

The rally has since grown into extravaganza that draws hundreds of thousands of visitors to the Black Hills each August.

Funeral services for Pearl Hoel are planned for Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church in Sturgis.

I would call it more like WWF MEETS THE MALL!

I'd rather ride out to Sturgis , not actually go in, maybe not even go to Sturgis to Cody,Wyoming instead , a smaller crowd (better crowd at that) , thats right Codys got shit going on during that time too!

Sorry to hear about the old lady , she lived a good life !
