I doubt it was IMC...who knows?

I do not one thing: the PT won't haul a bike and a trailer.  The towing on the vehicle is rated at 1000lbs or less.  And that's with a manual tranny.  They don't even come with hitches as an option.  At least not in 2000 they didin't.  As of 2002 I know they didn;t as well.  When I bought mine, I was told that it would be able to tow.  Not the case.  Between the weight of a trailer, my Chief and the hitch, the weight well exceeded 1000lbs and knowing the light fourbanger in the car, I'd never trust it to to uphill.

is it true that the "chasis" of a p.t. cruiser is a neon "chasis"? ???

Different chasis as they elimiated a good deal of the ass end to give the PT a flat bed in the back.  The motor and tranny are virually the same.  It was initially based on the Neon.

I had a 2001 PT Cruiser with an automatic trans.  I towed my Scout with it, but just short hauls from my house to the shop!  The Scout weighs in at approx 600 lbs and my trailer was 350 lbs.  I was able to tow it with no problems, but it was just about maxed out.

The "Indian PT Cruiser" that is shown is something that company does, I believe.  I don't think there is an "official Indian PT Cruiser."

By the way, I just traded the PT in and bought a 2004 (a leftover) Ford Explorer Sport Trac.  They gave me 7100 for the PT Cruiser which only had 48k miles on it.

I looked into the intercooler turbos too through Jackson Racing.  They do give it a boost, but Jackson said towing with their turbo was still not the best idea in the world.  They built the turbo for racing and didn't add a whole lot of bottom end torque. I live in a very hilly/mountain area and the flatlands are few and far between.  My wife managed to stack 650lbs of tile in the back of the PT once and we barely got it up my hill to my house...and that is with a standard.

$7100 trade-in?  Man these things have fallen in price.  I'm at the verge of getting rid of mine as well.  Looks like I'll try the open market to see if I can get more than $7100 for it.

Known defect in early PT Cruiser/Neon Breeze 2.4l Engines.

No announced recall.

Cylinder leaks oil usually external sometimes internal. Left/firewall side of head. Check it. Also check for oil in antifreeze.

I think what happened was when Chrysler came out with the first one, people loved it.  Hell they were bidding over sticker price at some dealers.  Chrysler seen it was selling good, so they flooded the market with them.

They gave me 7100 for a trade in and a fwew days later I seen an ad in the paper.  The dealership was asking 10,900 for it!
