I know there were a couple of you guys that were interested in the book I wrote, The Other Casualty Of War.  Any how, I thought I'd post this note here to let you know that the editing part is (finally) completed and now it goes to the art department for the front cover.  I am guess-timating it will be ready sometime in February.  Will let you know when it's ready, or you can check out my web site, as I try to keep it updated.  The Other Casualty Of War

Unfortunately, I have no control over the price of the book.  As a matter of fact, I can't even tell you how much it will cost.  The publisher sets that.  Wish I could offer a discount for you guys.  However, what I would be more than happy to do is this, if your order it on-line, have it shipped to me, I'll sign it (send me an e-mail with what you'd like in it...like your name..) and I will pay the return postage.  I've gotten so much help here from you guys, it would be the least I could do!  That could be the IIRA discount..??!!

:bthumb:

Once it is available, you should be able to order it from any bookstore.  If they don't have it, you can ask them to get it and I'm sure they will.  Or you will be able to order it from Amazon.Com, Barnes and Noble.Com, or any good on-line book store.

The release of the book is definately nerve racking as it exposes my life to everyone.  I'm just hoping it proves to be helpful to some Nam vets.  That's the purpose of doing this in the first place.

Now for the pitch ... personally, I think the book sucks!  I can't imagine why a publisher would want to publish it!  However, some that have read the draft gave it high marks.  (See my web site)

All proceeds will go to repairing my Scout... all 8% of the sales!  So kids go to a good trade school!  Wrting books don't pay!

It's to late for that.  It's already in the art department's hands.  I wish I had known earlier...

K.. I don' understand...

It's your book... you can't tell the publisher to send you a box at wholesale?

:uhoh:

They will send me (I think a minimum order of 50 books) at a reduced rate.  Not sure `how reduced', but even at 10 bucks a book that adds up to...hmmm...about...ahhh...mmmm more than I have!

I just heard from the publisher and my book, The Other Casualty of War, has an official release date of March 31, 2005.  However, they said it should be available sooner than that at places like Amazon.com and Barnes&Noble.com...

glad to hear that its to this stage.  good for you.    gotta know what it did for you though, being able to not only relive in memory but to write it down. i,m sure once you got into it it must have brought to the surface things that we hide away or keep in check.  did it help YOU???... i,m looking forward to it.and wheather i like or dislike it.   i,d like thankyou for taking the time, wanting to share and hopefully ease, heal, or just let someone know there not along with these thoughts or shadows.   semper fi       again thanks      gw

Actually, it was my counselor at the VA that started me on this.  Long story short... it did help the healing.  More than any book could ever tell!  However, it was very difficult to write.  It's not a large book, it is actually under a 100 pages, but it took me better than 5 years to fet it done.  There are things I left out of the book because I don't have a complete memory of a particular incident(s).

It also made me get in touch with some of the guys I served with.  It made me realise there were things left unsaid, and there was a need for saying them, as well as a desperate need to write the book.

Man, what a haunting feeling, after all those years.

I do appreciate all the comments everyone has made.  Thanks everyone!

Welcome home, to all the `Nam vets here...
