Crash bars

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for a set of crash bars. I know of Stark, Tomahawk

and Lindby. My question is.

Has anyone had the misfortune of using their crash bars ? How fast were you going, were you on pavement and what happened to the crash bars ?

Did the bars bend or break, did the mounts hold up and did the bars protect you and the paint ?

I know noone will claim that their crash bars will protect anything for insurance, but I want to know which ones actually work.

If you have had to use your bars would you buy them again ?

Sorry, mine are just for show. I don't plan to use them. LOL

:rasp:

I have the bars that were provided by Indian. Don't know who made them.

I had the misfortune of missing the kick stand at that pumps

one day, I put it down easy. Hurt my pride more than anything.

The rear bar broke a weld.

If only I could locate some for the late model 03 chief.  Lindby doesn't have them.

:) I went down in Oct. Was going 40 mph when I had to put her down. I have the front crash bar off a Vintage Chief on my 03 RoadMaster. The Bar bent. Foot pegs on the Bar were scraped. Lost both Bags and the Front end lost the stop so the left Tank went south. Floor boards were bent and scraped. Bars, left mirror and Front MC were all shot. Windshield said goodbye. Lets see? Oh yes! I lost the War pipe and the Buffalo Derby cover (both suffered from road rash). The Ins Co paid $6700 for repairs (I have a $250 ded so I got $6450) Without the Crash Bars I would have said goodbye to the Chief.

I don't have crash bars, but I plan on getting a set. The clincher was when I was checking my oil level after a ride and got about half-way off my chief when I realized that the kickstand wasn't down and the bike was going over in slow-motion. The floorboards bought me enough time to summon up some super-human strength and pull the beast back up.

I had to look around real quick to see if anyone saw me :uhoh: .

Tomohawk ones    30mph into a curve    deer in road   ditched bike      bar wrapped around my boot but I wiggled out of it      did minor dent to rear fender from saddlebag and scratched front fender a little bit. passing lamp and couple minor things. They straightened out my bar at IRIP and am still using it to this day .......

Nice!!

Man it looks like you've done some polishing!!

You got some shine going on that bike for real.

I'm jealous!!

I'll get a pick of my derby on here this morning!

Bet you'd have a hard time guessing what's on there!

Mine saved my leg.

When I hit the canyon wall -

The impact bent the front bar back to 45 degrees -

Bent the rear bar flat -

And removed the saddle bag bolts and all from the rear fender.

Go get them.

Thanks, Danny
