A couple of weeks ago, I went to my medical clinic for chemotherapy.  Rather than lie to them, I told them that I had a cough.  I was refused entrance to the building and told I must take a Covid-19 test.  I was told to quarantine until the results came back.  I told them that I couldn't as I had dialysis the following afternoon.  The medical clinic informed my dialysis clinic which decided that, without waiting for the results for the test, to send me to the clinic of where they're sending patients who have tested positive for Covid-19.  They were going to expose me to Covid-19 even though, as it turned out, I didn't have it.  When my nephrologist heard this, he immediately cancelled the transfer.  Good thing as I was a phone call away from involving my lawyer in the situation.

As I mentioned previously, my Covid-19 test came back negative.  The medical clinic rescheduled the chemo for the following Thursday.  When I got there, I, once again, truthfully told them that I was now short of breath.  Once again, I was refused entrance to the building.  They couldn't use the Covid-19 excuse as I had tested negative the previous week.  So, they subjected me to an EKG, a chest x-ray, a ct scan and a blood draw.  The result of all these tests was to tell me I might have lung cancer and reroute me to the hospital.  Once again. no chemo.

I don't have lung cancer.  A ct scan from 2 years ago shows the same enlarged lymph nodes that got them worried this time.  Back then, I had a PET scan which is a test for cancer and it came back negative.

I went to the ER and was sugjected to my second Covid-19 test in a week.  It was also negative.  I was admitted to the hospital with pneumonia which is something I get maybe once a year.  Antibiotics quickly took care of that.  The lung doctor, noting the similarity of the ct scans was satisfied that I didn't have lung cancer.  He did, however, recommend a biopsy of a swollen lymph node in my neck which was fine by me as I've never had a lymph node biopsy and would like to know why they're swollen.  I was asked to spend two more days in the hospital to wean me off blood thinners so I could have the procedure without having to come back for it.  I agreed to this as coming back would entail yet another Covid-19 test.  Even so, when they moved me from my current hospital room to a new one, I had to undergo another Covid-19 test, my third in a week and a half.  Also negative.  This, of course, is in addition to swabs for MRSA which I had years ago.  But, it never disappears from your hospital record.  The nurses all have to put silly yellow gowns on before entering my room.  But, having had MRSA all those many years ago, still guarantees me a private room so I can't complain.

Yesterday, I had my biopsy.  It was a complete waste of time as my blood was still too thin and all the samples got inundated with blood and were useless.  I was told I would have to come back on Tuesday anyway for a redo.  Plus, after all that, even though I was just discharged last night, I have to go back today for, you guessed it, a Covid-19 test.  My fourth in two weeks.  Plus, the discharge doctor told me, after all that, to have another PET scan done anyway, just to be sure.  I wonder if yet another Covid-19 test is is my future.

By the way, I still haven't received chemo.  I wonder how many people are dying from these Covid-19 policies.  More than a few, I'm guessing.

I'm glad you're ok Mike. Went to the bank yesterday (had to make an appointment) to handle a significant  transaction that had a time limit on it. I have not really been anywhere since the walking dead shit started. They had signs everywhere to wear masks and gloves , which Ms. Micmac and I did. I think we were the only ones doing so dining my entire 2 hour wait there including the people who used up two rolls of scotch tape hanging these worthless signs up. I wish they would've made me a realistic appointment as I was admittedly on the verge of having a panic attack (I think, I have never had one before, although I am familiar with the symptomology as I am a mental health professional, or was before retirement). It seems we had to wait because all these other good citizens were doing regular business. I really don't care if they want to die, I do not. I don't care how many people think its bullshit. I don't. If they want to die, do it on your own time, don't involve my wife and I. Not sure why, the Bank Manager knew were coming, and for what, and we told them we were both in the high risk category. I've had cancer, hepatitis C, diabetes, Lyme disease,, and a partridge in a pear tree. We finally completed the transaction and raced back home.

Hey, Doc.  Us old farts just won't quit will we?  Remembering back to when I first joined this forum, you are the only member I can recall that was already there.  I will tip a glass today to those members no longer present that were going strong when I created my user id.  Those were the days.

Chief Doc 99 thats what I've been doing, cleaning bikes, trucks and cars. I have been watching the entire 2018 Red Sox season a night at a time. I have no hope there will be a 2020 baseball season, or anything that is statically measurable against previous seasons. Glace stopped in yesterday. He's been working on a pistol case for me and had it finished, nice surprise. My kids/Grandbaby also came by yesterday, which was great..

Just found out yesterday that, while everyone was busy making sure that I didn't have Covid-19, nobody noticed that my hemoglobin had dropped dangerously low.  Now they want me to go back to the hospital and get a transfusion.  I've never had one and I hope to never have one so I held out for plan B.  I received a large injection of epogen, a red blood cell growth stimulator.  But, I agreed that, if my hemoglobin continues to drop, that I would go to the ER and get the dreaded transfusion.  Fingers crossed.  It would never have come to this if people had been doing their jobs.

Just got out of the hospital again.  This  time, my hemoglobin was 6.8, but, because I had a cough and a fever, I was put in the Covid-19 ward even though I tested negative twice in six hours.  They gave me a unit of blood and took out a unit for all the blood tests they ran trying to figure out what I had..  They gave me another unit which brought my hemoglobin up to 8.2 but, overnight, it went down to 7.4 and nobody could tell me why.  They gave me a third unit and kicked me out without checking my hemoglobin.  The alternative was to send me to the death house, the dialysis facility that is Covid-19 positive, even though I've always (six times) tested negative.  An immuno-compromised patient with no evidence of Coviid-19 being forced to dialyze with Covid-19 positive patients.  It's like  the New York law forcing Covid-19 negative nursing homes to accept Covid-19 positive applicants.

They actually gave me a gift and a send-off when I was discharged.  I told them that I didn't have Covid-19 so why the send-off?  They said that so few patients actually leave the floor alive that they wanted to celebrate my leaving.  I thanked them, asked them if they knew what hysterical paranoia was, and left.  If my hemoglobin doesn't start going up on it's own,  I'll be back next week for another transfusion anyway.

Back in the hospital yesterday after showing up to the dialysis clinic with a fever.  That was all they needed to ship me off to the hospital.  After the obligatory Covid-19 test, the seventh one in two months, was negative, the doctor wanted to send me back to the clinic using the logic that, whatever the fever was, it wasn't Covid-19.  I told him what would happen.  Eventually, it would boil down to you say he's our responsibility so, fine, we accept responsibility.  They will then send me off to their Covid-19 positive facility, even though I'm negative and subject me to the Covid-19 virus.  The doctor was appalled but, after speaking with the clinic, the decision was made to dialyze me in the hospital.  I told him not to feel so morally superior.  Last time I was in the hospital with a fever of unknown origin and negative for Covid-19, same as now, I was placed in the Covid-19 ward where, if I had spent one more day, hospital policy would have had me shipped off to that same, Covid-19 positive, dialysis facility that the dialysis would have shipped me off to.  I've probably tested negative more times in the last two months than any patient in the Bay Area but, I remain just one step away from being systemically exposed to Covid-19.  Me, someone with no immune system, and at the highest risk for death from exposure.  This kind of crap got exposed with the nursing homes but only after thousands died.  I hope I don't have to be one of those that has to die to expose what's wrong with the system's treatment of dialysis patients.

Maybe take a Motrin to reduce chances of fever & monitor your temperature

prior to your dialysis appointment?

Stack the deck in your favor as much as possible Mike.

I often do do just that.  However, I have prescription based Tylenol #3 on hand instead of regular Tylenol.  I was down to my last two pills and didn't want to use them up before getting a refill.  I felt fine so I didn't even bother to check my temp(big mistake).  My sister is picking up the refill today, a day late and a dollar short.  But, yes, you can bet that won't happen again.  Thanks for the suggestion.

I'm pulling for you Mike. Maybe your sister could contact your newspaper and relate the systematic abuse you have suffered from the medical community in that area. Someone needs to hear your story that is in the position to make changes. I would suggest to you that these medical professionals act acting in a manner not consistent with the oath they took, as well as operating outside the scope of ethical standards of their profession. They have pledged to "do no harm" and it actually seems by your comments that they have convened a focus group on how to cause your demise. Please get the word out.

I rant here because I fear persecution.  I'm  pretty sure they could get to me through my sister.  Not worth the risk.

Mike, there is a problem with your hemoglobin/hematocrit due to the renal failure

The treatment is an injectable medication called "Procrit"

With the real failure you lack a hormone that makes you make hemoglobin.

Get on this med!

Best wishes to  you my friend,

-Doc

Social media is the new Big Brother spy tool for sure.

People just nonchalantly out themselves there all the time.

The pandemic/riot social scene amounts to a form of torture as we look at it everywhere in the world today.
