KenB
No more issues. Going to make an appointment at the dealer to get the CC switch replaced and have the idle thing looked at. I really want to know WHY and HOW this happened. My battery was a year and a half old - always on the trickle charger, and showed no signs of weakness. If that's the issue, how do we know in advance? A shut down like mine could have ended a lot worse.. say US-50 in Nevada with no cell coverage.

lschultz
Ken you said trickle charger. Did you mean to say battery tender. Them ole trickle charger were famous for overcharging a battery even though they say they taper off. I quit using them when the battery tenders came out. And good pictures. David F.
Ken, When I had my breakdown, had I been watching my charging voltage, I would have seen that I was having a problem. We have that option on the Chieftain MFD. Not sure if you can toggle to it on the Vintage display. If not, Kuryakyn makes a small charging system display that might be worth investing in. Also, my entire problem could be attributed to loose battery cables. Hopefully that wasn't part of your issue.
