Danger On The Road

I hate to say it, but the only way to deal with this behavior is to "deter" them. That would require some type of violence on your part.

Me personally ....

1. I don't fly a Bosnian flag on my bike whenever possible

2. I don't crank my rock n roll out the speakers, when riding through the Hood

3. No Star of David Back patches

Has worked for me so far :)

One against many - not good odds in my book. Best to avoid places where this situation is likely to happen. Fortunately I don't like big cities anyway.

I was being a smart ass in my previous post... but have to admit, I have rolled in through the wrong part of town before. When I had the wife a few times, doors got locked , windows up, and had a 'plan' in the brain on how to keep the family safe.

Few times by myself , put on the game face, attempted to look disinterested... and ... reminded myself ... "DON"T DO THAT AGAIN!" .. lol

As you say .. numbers matter.. doesn't matter how bad one is... if you don't have backup consisting of quite of few buddies rolling with you , could get ugly :(

I attempt to avoid big cities while traveling. One, I can't stand the traffic and two, I don't know where the "bad" areas are. Regardless, it seems that no matter where you go in the city, there's always someone panhandling, begging or just trying to start some shit.

I don't drive through the hood on purpose either, but I always have a gun and a pretty serious knife when I travel by road-legal or not.

I read an article that showed the 10 worst cities to travel in/through. It was based on the number of violent crimes per 100,000. Detroit was #1, Oakland was #2 and St. Louis was #3. See a pattern here?

You'd have to be blind, or a liberal not to.

I would certainly feel safe with you along. I've seen your practice target. Not only can you shoot, you get damned flashy doing it.

You could say stupid or liberal but that would be redundant

Isn't it strange that this sort of thing is NOT being reported in the media?

Not all Liberals are stupid, which actually makes it worse. Being stupid is at least a somewhat valid excuse.

Firstly, I want to state I am usually right wing enough to make Barry Goldwater look like a Log Cabin Republican. Lately I have been questioning my beliefs. I had to register to vote when I moved this year, and registered unaffiliated. I am fairly certain I will only be voting on local Issues as I have come to an awareness that both major parties are to quote Ten Bears in The Outlaw Josey Wales, "Chiefed by the forked tonged devils". As a rule don't give a fuck what flavor a person is, I treat everyone the same until they fuck me over-then I don't have anything to do with him/her. A punk is a punk is a punk.I pretty much lived most of my life in Greensboro, NC. You know, Woolworth sit ins by young black students from NC A&T 1963, Klan VS Socialist Workers Party 1979 (they tried the Klan 3 times and they were found innocent every way they tried to charge them). I grew up watching the original boys in the hood marching down the street, I fucking hated them, bunch of pussies hiding behind masks, if they had any kind of manhood they would've let everyone see who they were.

My ethnicity is Indian (my family NEVER called themselves Native Americans my Grandpa told me that was a name white folks made up to feel good about themselves) and Irish Catholic, two things they dislike. Catholics are idol worshipers and pray to a woman (can't make this shit up). I watched the video of the Socialist vs. Klan numerous times, the Commies attacked the Hate mongers plain and simple. When the dust settled the socialists lay dead all over the place and the Klan walked away. I have been to hear David Duke speak and Louis Farrakhan speak, for the life of me I couldn't figure out which one was the most bigoted racist, I think it is a tie.

I think both sides can post quotes from obscure news agencies to prove their point. I think Zimmerman was a little fucking weasel looking for an African American to kill, little sawed off prick. That kid Travon was not squeaky clean, he did not deserve to die however. If Zimmerman had a pair, he would've whipped his ass with his fists. He was scared of a kid and shot him dead. The kid in Ferguson? He was a crime wave going somewhere to happen. Did he deserve to die by that little pip-squeak pussy cop? No, he could've popped a cap in his leg and the kid would've limped the rest of his life, and be thinking about that every time he thought about slapping someone around and stealing a pack of cigars. The cigarette salesman in NY, give me a fucking break. That dude was nuttier than a fruit cake. Should he be chocked to death for selling smokes on the sidewalk? No, he should've won an all expense paid trip the Bellevue. Give me a fucking break. Cops were wrong on that one, dead wrong.

This is a nation of laws, many of us on this forum put our ass on the line to preserve this way of life. We don't get to decide who lives or dies in the street. There is a system in place to deal with such things. If they can choke a black guy to death on the street for selling cigarettes, they can beat this Heinz 57 motherfucker to a pulp for having a box or five of Cubans stashed. BTW, I don't think he was killed because he was black, I think he was killed because the cops could kill him. This man's daughter also does not believe he was killed for his race BTW. Yes, Zimmerman, The NYPD, and the cop in Ferguson also went through the legal system (maybe not the NYPD guys, I think they were reviewed by Internal Affairs. I am saying that just because you can snuff out someones life, doesn't mean you have to. Our nation is quickly becoming a police state right under our noses. The fucking cops drive tanks, dress up like soldiers, and run rampant in our communities with not much a measure of an external system checks and balances. I am not bad mouthing law enforcement, I retired from a law enforcement agency. I am bad mouthing you and I the American public. We should be outraged that guy was pounced on by LEO's and killed in the street like a rabid dog.

When I was a kid, we played in the street, all kids play in the street, what's new? All that being said, I moved the fuck out of the city this summer and I hate going back because I am an equal opportunity hater of all assholes who don't know how to drive, bump into you at the store, let their kids run wild in an eating establishment, listen to jerk off music loud and want me to too. I crank up Robin Trower, Jeff Beck, or Zeppelin and trust me, I have a very loud stereo in the 'ol Silverado. Do black people fuck up? Yes, same as White folk! Bottom line is, treat people how you want to be treated in any given situation, and usually it will be returned. I go in the hood, it don't bother me, fuck the Greensboro Indian Dealership is in the fucking hood. Why can't we all just agree the world is a different place than when we grew up in the 60's & 70's, it has to do with the times more so than the pigment of an individuals skin.

The following is one of my favorite missives, it is a statement and provocative poem attributed to pastor Martin Niemoller(1892–1984) about the cowardice of German intellectuals following the Nazis' rise to power and the subsequent purging of their chosen targets, group after group.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I have what is perhaps a unique problem with carrying a firearm while traveling... I live in Colorado... where recreational pot is legal. So if I get pulled over by the police it's pretty damned likely that both me and my bike are going to get thoroughly searched, and any firearm I have with me will get confiscated and I could end up in trouble.

I don't worry about Orwellian gun laws in my state. In fact, just yesterday, Ohio signed into law several measures:

  • Reduced the training hours required for concealed carry from 12 to 8.
  • Expanded concealed carry reciprocity to out-of-state visitors, even if their state won't recognize Ohio's concealed carry permit holders.
  • Ohioans can now purchase and/or sell rifles and shotguns in any state as long as the firearm laws in both states are obeyed.
  • CLEO's are required to sign off on an application to transfer National Firearms Act items (machine guns, etc), once the application procedures and requirements are met.
  • Allows the use of suppressors while hunting.

Yeah, we have shitty weather......but we have common sense laws.

This just came out. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2014/12/20/2-nypd-cops-shot-in-car-critically-injured/

Wonder why the police take their job so seriously? This is also what happens when the news outlets portray them as perps even though these race-baiter bastards would be the first to call them when the shit hits the fan.

.

My son is taking criminal justice in college to become a police officer. With the public's misguided views and the human garbage in our country, it's little wonder why anyone would accept this job. Apparently some seem to think we would be better off without them. I'm not one of those.

Some of you remember when the soldiers came home from Viet Nam only to be spit on and called baby killers. It was despicable behavior and the opposite of the truth, What's going on now reminds me of that. They're doing their job under adverse conditions only to be ridiculed for it. God bless them.

v-rodcpa, not sure if you are referring to my comments in your post. I do not think we'd be better off w/o police. I think we'd be better with police that were held accountable and better trained to identify the difference between mental health issues and criminality. I worked in a heavy duty environment most of my career. I have two nephews on the NC Highway Patrol, and another who is a High Point, NC cop. I will most likely die as a result of a criminal who did something to me whilstI was in the performance of my duties. When he did what he did to me it was an internal prison writeup, it is now a felony. It resulted in me contracting a blood borne pathogenic disease of which I am not a good candidate for any of the new cures out there. I have been trying to take caste of myself these days and I ain't going away from here anytime soon, at least as a result of this disease. There are good guys out there on patrol, but there are abusive self serving power drunk cops as well. I facilitated certain testing measurements of new hires in order to attempt to screen out the bad apples. The thing is, the testing instruments we utilized as a matter of state policy results were easily manipulated, especially by the above mentioned personality types. I hope your son has a rewarding career in law enforcement. There are many related careers in law enforcement that don't involve handcuffs and side arms. Perhaps the education bug will bite and he will want to take it further in another direction. Although not a sworn officer, I enjoyed what I did immensely.

Problem is, cops never know what they're up against. Are the perps mentally ill? Are they drunk or on drugs? Are they cop haters or just shit stirrers? It's easy to armchair quarterback after the fact. Most of the time I'll side with the cops although they do get carried away sometimes.....and I don't like the fact they're armed with MRAPs and other heavy armor. I'm sure a lot of that is just a show of force but most of the time, it sends the wrong message.
