quigley3
The Minnesota State High School League is considering a proposal this week to eliminate boys and girls designations in high school sports. This would include on the field, the locker rooms, bathrooms and hotel rooms. They are doing this so that the "transgenders" don't feel out of place in the high school sports world. Anybody see a problem with this plan? Raging teenage hormones? Bueller? Bueller? Maldev
Would have kept me out of the dean's office for peeping in the girl's locker room...
quigley3
Now you could walk right on in without repercussions. As a guy, I say Hubba Hubba. As a dad of teenage daughters that play sports, not so much. And sports is just the first step, it will infect other aspects of school life and beyond as well. The states suffer from rights envy, and their politicians are going to be saying "Hey, if Minnesota can do it...." This services a small minority. Each day it is hard to tell who are the bullies anymore.....Oh yeah, we passed an anti bullying law as well
Airpirate
roughly 3 to 5% of America is gay, transgender, fucked up etc. So the brain trusts are making concessions to appease a small segment of the population and completely crash the rest of the population, oh shit, that's exactly what they did with obamacare
TallRider
I have no problem with alternative sexual lifestyles, to each their own and different strokes for different folks, but at the end of the sports day pick a gender - male or female - and participate as such. I lost faith in the MSHSL when they decided to introduce multiple state tournaments in each sport to "increase participation". It's supposed to be difficult and participation at the state tournament level shouldn't be a given. The MSHSL lost its common sense long ago. dk007
Once again, the do-gooders surrender to another fringe element so "no child is left offended". Later, these school administrators will sit in their board meetings astounded that the boys were looking at the girls, the girls were offended........and the transgenders were looking at both. It is tough for Thief River Falls to compete with the Eden Prairies, but 6 classes? Like any government agency, once it has power, it continues to seek more. Our Metropolitan Council started out with a very limited function and is now the unelected, unaccountable 800lb gorilla in the Twin Cities. Local governments have little authority any more....
TallRider
q3 - not to hijack your thread . . . but to hijack your thread - when I was in high school, "small" schools like International Falls and Greenway-Coleraine had no problem competing in hockey with the likes of the Lake Conference and the Minneapolis/St. Paul schools; and who can forget the classic David and Goliath basketball match-up between Edgerton and Austin for the 1960 championship, with Egerton winning it all and beating number one ranked Richfield along the way. Unfortunately, the MSHSL in their finite wisdom has eliminated the possibility for those kind of match-ups with the multi-class tournament arrangements. But then how smart could I be . . . I ride a Gilroy Chief.

But continuing on with the "Every Kid Gets a Trophy" philosophy(and we ALL know how WELL that is working out), seems like an advanced degree is idiocy. The sad thing is, I think the Millenials are starting to see the light and are working on building their own self esteem...

MN is home to Al Frankin, the Senator and Jesse, The Body, Ventura as prior Governor. Common sense has left the building.
