just jon
I recently bought a 2015 Indian Vintage Chief with great looking saddle bags. After a few weeks and 720 miles later one of the saddlebags fell off. This happened behind me and I didn't realize it for about 5 miles. I retraced my route and didn't find it. I checked the other bag and one of the connections was also just about to come undone. Indian says its a first. Has anyone else experienced this problem. I am pretty pissed at Polaris about this. stu
It's not a first.. someone had a bag replaced because of this.. the dealer installed incorrectly... the problem was, and usually is, the bag is not put on and locked in place correctly. There is a U shaped piece on the bag that must go over and behind the lip on the receiver on the bike... then locked in .... if that doesn't happen... the bag will fall off.... Tahoe Chief
Wow, that's not good, sorry for that one, hope they give you a new one.
CHIEF DOC 99
A proactive dealer would step up & offer a replacement the first time it happened...repeats not so much. Paracord lanyards might be good insurance against a recurrence. Edited November 21, 2014 by CHIEF DOC

Call them back and tell them they are "lying sacks of shit" Too many have fallen off, sometimes it's the dealers fault & some it's the owners fault, if you haven't taken them off & put them back-on it's on Indian or the dealership to replace it. In the age of this great internet it baffles me to hear "It's a first" Hell it happened to a guy within the first week they were released a year ago & it was replaced for free... The more I hear of these ASS-HOLES, the less I want a PI Indian YMMV Edited December 8, 2014 by hasbin

Greyrider00
Who would have thought Polaris was only into building Indian Motorcycles to make money and didn't really care about the riders? It all comes down to share holder value (stock price). I think the days of corporate America caring about the customer ended about 30 or 40 years ago. Corporate America is only looking at where the next $$ is coming from. Makes me reconsider my loyalties. Tough times

stu
This may be contrary to a lot of opinion about the owner of the brand... but I would prefer an owner that builds a great bike but doesn't care jack shit about me over an owner that loves me to death but builds a piece of shit.... just my 2cents....

badndn
This may be contrary to a lot of opinion about the owner of the brand... but I would prefer an owner that builds a great cheap bike but doesn't care jack shit about me over an owner that loves me to death but builds a piece of shit.... just my 2cents.... Come on Stu..you loved Polaris when you first heard the price point. Before the first bike was sold to the public. They had you at 18,999. (Sorry for the Jerry Mcquire metaphor) Why can't they build a great, cheap bike AND give a shit about you?

I don't need them to call me and check on me.... I got a great bike at a great price ... that's enough for me....

I just am not all fukn hard down there over the way Indian runs the warranty end of the business. I understood the post fine... I was explaining what happened... Did you miss that??? I ain't pissing down my leg or got wood for them... I explained later that I don't much give a shit about the company... Just that they build great bikes... The person that answered the question may not have known of this has happened...There have been thousands of bikes sold with a few instances of this happening... It's not a bike problem so it may not get a trouble ticket assigned... It's somebody didn't put the bag on right... Yeah ... Your right Polaris sucks and this is concrete evidence the suits are lying...

I didn't say your savior sucks, but they knew about this within the first two weeks they started delivery to customers, "they must have forgotten" I'm not even saying that it's PI's fault that it happens, for sure the dealership who did the prep as IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM & hasbin for over a year, Do YOU know if the dealerships install the bags or the factory ? ( I don't) but I do know it should have been checked-out before the scoot left the dealership, possibly add a little speech to the new owners orientation that care should be taken when installing them.
