Biker Live.....good Riddance Occ

Recommended Posts

Discovery has a new biker build off show...premiered this week. I watched it on DVR tonight and was fairly surprised. Premise is three bike shops...5 weeks to build a bike...and it has to be road worthy. Audience votes by Twitter accounts and they do it all from beginning to end in single episode telling you who won at end of show. Only problem I had was they closed voting so early in show you dont see finished products before it closes. I was impressed with most of the work tonight I watched...especially Harlot cycles even though they lost.

Two of the shops tonight built One-Off springer front ends....custom tanks...frames...etc. These guys are fabricators not assemblers...was refreshing to see them work through problems...cut, weld, hammer and ride the bikes.

the host is a puck but they leave the rest to the builders...backyard guys just doing what they love. i thought it was refreshing to see someone working their ass off to make a living and pursue their passion. Dont care for format and the voting and bullshit....I liked watching them work on the bikes.

Yeah that producer SUCKS as an interviewer (he does the same thing on Gold Rush). He is not interesting at all. He needs to stay BEHIND the cameras.

Most on Cyril's blog hated it. I can't stay up that late to watch anything. Zero dark thirty comes to damn early.

Was that Zero dark thirty or Too dark thirty ??

I believe that is o dark thirty. Looks like the man gets up early to go to work. I remember those kind of hours when I was still working and had to go in four hours early. Up at 12:30 and on the road by 1:00 to get to the plant before 3:00.

Love to see the builders working, but the build-off format is nonsense....and Dang, I've just stopped complaining about my work hours.

Yep, up at 0430 so I can get to work before MOST of the rest of the DC metro residents yet I still hit rush hour at 0530 (and that's only half way to work!).

i dont miss those days at all.... ended up riding metro most of time but would run in to the metro...ride blue line all the way. did not save me time to pentagon but nobody wanted to sit by me all sweaty so I always had a seat by myself. LOL Plus I did not get road rage riding metro....as I wanted to take someone out every day driving from Maryland. LOL

Those elected officials have no idea what the world looks like before sunrise. They sleep in and go to work late. Which causes my other headache, data calls at 1630 with a same day suspense.

With my current job and not currently working at the Pentagon there is not a direct route to my office by train. I'd have to drive 30 minutes, catch a train or bus, then catch a shuttle to my office. Still 2 hours so it's just easier to drive right now. Hopefully my next position will allow a little more flexibility.

I haven't watched it yet. I always liked the Biker Buildoff shows. A lot of the guys have real talent. I remember the one with Paul Cox & Keino from Indian Larry's taking on Trevelen & Kiwi Mike's flathead guys. Paul Cox took a pile of metal & made a girder front end while Keino took, I believe, a shovelhead & panhead, put them together to make 1 motor.

Trevelen & Kiwi Mike's Crazy Horse Indian chop won that one, but just the stuff some guys can do is amazing.

OCC I always hated after like 5 episodes into their run. Didn't take long to figure out they were the fake drama guys & had no real skill. But I do give them credit for figuring out how to get their 15 minutes & make millions of dollars.

Ah, the solution, DVR. I never get lulled into the commercialism of the TV viewing experience these days. I DVR anything of interest , cut through all the commercials, turns a 60 min show into a more manageable 40 min show, and watch it at my convenience.

$10,000 for the front wheel,my God.

The winning bike was the one I liked least.

I've watched both episodes, and agreed, the voting format stinks. The bike that one last nite placed last in my voting.

However, I bet if you priced those three bikes, you would be shocked at how much they wanted for them. They may be "backyard builders", but I bet their asking priced is more like "downtown expensive".

watched it tonight.... the bike from Combat Cycles in Jacksonville NC that was like the old board trackers with the seat almost on the ground....well that is the one I saw ride into back of SuckBangBlow Saturday during the AC/DC Tribute Concert. That bike was bad ass...not sure how it would be to ride but it definitely looked bad ass with him sitting down in it and riding it through the crowds to park. Wish I took a picture now.....

I actually did not like the bagger they did.....the one that won the competition was pretty good especially given how young they were but again I preferred the bike that did not win....Combat Cycles (Shoulda)
