I had a rear tyre go flat @ 75mph in fast lane on HWY 101 in Santa Barbara, we were 3-up, me myself & my wife, the chick from RSA (in Canada) asks my wife "which" one of the 4 tyre's went flat ? & do you know where your spare is?? :rotfl::rotfl: I was chatting with the cool CHP that had just run a traffic break so I could get the Chief from the lil 5' patch of tarmac in the Centre divider over to the right side where there is an emergency lane, RSA driver showed-up in about 45min. (not bad) He took me the 50 free miles where Maldev met us with the INDIAN-hauler for the last 50 miles home.... Only 800 miles on that new tyre & it's shredded.

IIRA is worth every penny, NOT for the RSA, for the many people that will drop everything & drive however long it takes to help, whether you have a flat tire in California, a rod bearing gone bad in Virginny or a lifter shit the bed in Tejas. BY THE RIDERZ / FOR THE RIDERZ

I'm glad everything worked out and you and the Mrs. are both safe, buddy. Speed, blowouts and freeways tend to suck when they're intertwined.

I completely agree with you, the people of the IIRA are what it's all about. Having a Hasbin and an Maldev in your phone's contact list is worth its weight in gold when the time comes that you need a hand. I find that people tend to want to help one another if you'll let them, and that help tends to make you want to help someone else out to pay it forward.

When you're broke down on the side of the highway with a scoot, you just KNOW that anyone who stops is a rider. When I was on the side of the road in southern Sask - wind blowing dust like it was 1934, three pickups stopped inside half an hour. All three were riders. The first one was a guy who was on his way to fix an oil pump (the big ones what suck dino juice from miles down) - said he'd help out on his way back. He was good as his word - turned out he used to work at a harley repair shop and he did work in his garage. So I called the RSA and had a flatdeck take it to a motel in the next town. Phoned the first guy who stopped - he jury-rigged a throttle cable from a harley and fabbed a nylon washer for the starter - on the road again.

I gotta say, peeples who are 'riders' is the best. And peeples who ride Indians? The best of the best.

Chapter 2 later ... the next breakdown on the way to Branson 2011.
