smilinphoenix
(This was shared with me by Burt's son, John Munro) Burt Munro would have been 115 years old today. Burt made motorcycle history when he set the world's land speed record, which still stands today, in 1967 on a customized Indian Scout. People told him it couldn't be done, but he didn't let that stop him. We think more people could stand to #BeLikeBurt. Share with us your #BeLikeBurt moment when you followed your passion, put everything you had into a goal, or kept going when people said you couldn't. We will be sharing your #BeLikeBurt moments throughout the day as we wish Burt a very Happy Birthday.

Micmac
I remember showing the movie to my kids. When they saw Burt pissing on the lemon tree, they both pointed at the same time and said,"Grandpa does that" must be a Kiwi thing. Bob, Darren and I rode in the winter to Chapel Hill to see the movie.

dk007
Is that Chief 111 in the top pic a "one off" bike or was/is it a special edition? I'm liking the fairing and low profile windshield on that one.
dk007
Disregard....I think I answered my own question. After a quick search on the internet, it appears this was a "one off" special project bike done by Indian of Valencia, Spain.
smilinphoenix
2014 Was a monumental year as I got to put a few thousand miles on some very fine Indian Motorcycles. One of the highlights was getting to lead John Munro on a perfect afternoon for a ride. He was on a Chieftain and I was on the Roadmaster. John has a great heart and desire to share his family contributions to motorcycle riding. It makes the world a much smaller place.

Micmac
Thats who should be the Indian spokesman instead of the Nose Picker. Someone who actually as a relationship/connection with our brand, not a fucking opportunist Harlee boy. I've been to Burt's hometown of Invercargill, NZ, try the Bluff Oysters, they are off the chain!

Micmac
I could never figure out why that movie never made it to mainstream? We had to ride to Chapel Hill to some hippie movie theater (Fucking state schools) to see it. Not in Charlotte, Raleigh or Greensboro. You would not believe the amount of civilians who ask me, "Did you see that movie with whats his name in it about the Indian?" I am frequently in New Zealand, and I am here to tell you that guy outshines Sir Edmund Hillary as a national hero. Polaris has partially capitalized on his popularity with the Munro tribute bike, however they continue to utilize a shyster as their pitchman. Why not take note of our lengthly and storied history and extrapolate some of the real hero's of Indian. The place to find them is at places like the Indian Come Home Day in Springfield, Davenport Iowa at the swap meet, not on the History Channel with a guy who only likes Indians is when he cashes the check. He has a Bar & Shield for a heart. This is a way of life for many of us, not the current fad de jour. Even HN's photo's shows some of us who have been here for the long haul. See any of the Nose Picker in his 2006 Photo's? No, you see Scott, Hank, Robert,Mike. Nose Picker will be gone to the highest bidder when the winds change, if they do. Airpirate
I get to ride to the "Echo bar and grill" where they shot the scene of Burt having lunch. About 50 miles from home , cool place
