"indian" Mike Wolff

Recommended Posts

I have probably seen about every Picker show that has aired, and I may be wrong, but wasn't Mike Wolff always more or less a Harley guy before Polaris took the brand over?

I know he likes Indians and always is looking for them, as we are all, but I thought I remembered him doing the HD avniversaries and being involved with them as well.

The reason I mention this is because he is of course their "golden boy" in promos as well as pics on the net, etc. The Indian he rides was a gift in iteself.

It's not a big deal, but I just kind of wanted the real poop on the situation

I talked to him for a good while at the main street store in Daytona when we were filming the promos and commercials that are just now showing up on youtube and TV. Not a big fan of American Pickers but he's a pretty nice guy. Very down to earth.

No, he's actually very into Indian, He used to help promote and produce the Davenport rally.

He has about 20 Indians, including a camelback. He keeps about 6 or 8 of the really old, valuable ones IN his house. Said his wife gives him shit about it.

He did say, quite frankly, that he isn't really that into motorcycles that were made after 1930 or so...he said "Really, I just like the really old shit."

I found that quite funny, given that he is now spokesperson for a VERY new motorcycle.

Personally, I still think Indian/KM SERIOUSLY dropped the ball when they did not get Keith Urban to be spokesperson.

HE contacted THEM.....And all he wanted for doing it was... an Indian.

Hell. As much as KM was commanding for the bikes at the time, that probably was a deal breaker. :rotfl:

I like watching the Pickers show. One of my favorite episodes was when he bought the old Indian and Frank rolled out with some choppered out ricer.

I want to think he payed $25K for it. On some episodes you'll see it sitting outside their main store.

The only thing I don't like about the show/him is I went to buy an old Indian piece for decoration. My living room is Indian and a large map of our trips. In the 'store' nothing Indian is for sale. It really pissed me off after driving 130 miles and not being able to buy anything.

I got mad, left and as I was leaving told them if you cant buy anything but shirts and bobble heads it is a museum and stop calling it a store. I refuse to watch the show since.

Danny on the other hand is as sweet in person as she comes off on the show. Gave several hugs and kisses to my 14 year old nephew, really made his day/week/year!

They need to find and old Indian rider with a real old Indian, looking at the new one, saying "Bout time to trade the ol' girl off".

Keith Urban would have drawn a hell of a crowd.

Well, in retrospect it seems like KM dropped a few balls, But just as with Gilroy, I give a helluva lotta credit just for keeping the brand alive. Always wondered why HD didn't buy the name, IP etc on the Gilroy fire sale and just bury it. They probably thought they were never gonna have to worry about it no matter what. Any rumours on that front, Doc?

I remember him being an Indian fan in the very first season....it was played up more last year before the roll out and such but I think he likes all things motorcycles but pretty sure Indian is one of his favorites if not the favorite. Indian was just able to capitalize on it and make it bigger

I do remember that someone was saying at the time of the fire sale that HD did bid on the IP, but their bid was way too low.

They didn't think anyone else would go for it, I guess.

I think he's a fucking jerk who takes advantage of old people. The "old valuable ones" he keeps in his house? Probably got em for a song off some old lonely person who hadn't talked to anyone in a month, then he and the gnome show up and sweet talk them out of the bikes cheap. I saw him gave an old guy $100.00 once for a sword he took offa dead Jap in WWII. I did not like him since that time. He has driven up the cost of antique motorcycling as well. Did you notice he wasn't at the Antique Indian Breakfast? Oh yea, I have extreme jet lag, and I am grouchy today. It's snowing in Geneva.

Peter Fonda rode a Gilroy Chief to one of the Love Ride's out here. Those shots never made the front pages until the following year when he was back on a Harley.

I like him. I think he is a good representative of the brand. At least for now. I think he genuinely loves Indian Motorcycles. Goes a long way for me. Better than somebody pretending to be Native American or an Australian Singer who has probably never rode an Indian.

Wolfe is really into the older, early 1900's, bikes.

Celebrities will endorse anything if the price is right. I think KM screwed the pooch by not signing Urban for an endorsement.

Probably kind of a hard sell to have an Aussie endorse the "first" American motorcycle here in the US. However, does anyone know if he is their rep down under?? Remember, Australia was the 2nd big launch site.

I still think Michele Smith would be good.
