CHIEF DOC 99
Soon to be a T Shirt design? :
Kenai
Hey CD: Funny you should bring WWII up. Brilliant minds do think alike Huh? Well, after a bit of research and preparing a plan of attack this winter along with a few design concepts tossed around, the next project in the bear cave is going to be a WWII themed bike. I decided that the 30's - 40's and WWII era are still hot commodities and the 99-00' Chiefs or a Spirit would lend itself nicely to the theme objective. Not sure how fast its going to go but it will be done proper. So I'm on the lookout for a suitable candidate. What surprised my is the quantity of different shades of US OD Military green exists (clickety on image). I expect the IDF will have something to say if I don't select their color OD! CHIEF DOC 99
George Clooney did something along those lines with a 2000 Chief a few years back. Goin' with a girder or leaf spring, Chuck?
Kenai
Juries still out on that decision. Like the look of the Leaf spring, girder front but also like the ride of the showa and the logistics support. Yep George had the right Idea. Your one image appears to be a sweet looking 03' version of Clooney's 00". I do like the color and the gloss finish on Clooney's 00' Chief but believe the job was done as a quickie. Much of the black painted surfaces were flaking off many of the bikes parts when it was sold back in Jan 07' . I'll likely steer towards a satin black and OD powder coat on many pieces like the 03' Chief's image but a bit closer to the more traditional 40’s WWII era color and look, a more traditional looking engine (natural crankcase, black cylinders, natural heads), round or custome oil tank, faded, worn look tobacco brown leathers (seat, bags, a few OD canvas carry alls, etc. For drivetrain, either a 111”, 117, or 124” S&S (whichever's available at the best value), Baker 6 Speed, Enclosed belt drive primary/ Chain Secondary (vs. belt) 130mm front 180mm rear tires, Black rims w hubs & spokes, etc. Will probably “morf it in” as I go. Definitely going to have an Ordnance P/N and a WWII “period correct” star on the tanks. Have plenty if ideas. All it takes is time and money Regards Kenai Edited February 7, 2014 by Kenai
CHIEF DOC 99
This is a makeover of a KM that Charlotte Indian displayed back in 2010. I don't remember the whole story on it.

Kenai
The CLooney WW2 fuel tank looks a stretched stock production model. imo MRUC: This one appears to be an 01' (note lip on back of tank, later footcontrols, and ILM forks). George's was an earlier 2000 s/n 2095. I like the OD matt finish and the Blacked out foot controls & spokes on this one.Very nicely done! Thanks for sharing. Kenai
Cool WW2 logo. MRUC: Also another excellent idea, WWII Army Air Corp insignias on the Tanks. Regards Kenai
