Airpirate
Man I hate to see that, especially since there's no rain or snow you the forecast. My family in Kalifornia is really worried about the summer if things don't change. We got some snow up here, but nowhere near normal levels, hell if my road wasn't snow packed I could be riding my bike the next 10 days, sunny and 50's up this high. Stay safe
Brock
heard they have made a couple arrests there and also near fresno from a string of arson fires.....they should let them out in middle of the blaze so they can burn themselves up but only until they need 100% burn unit support and skin grafts....dont let them die, just yet.....then they might ask for redemption.

Last Resort
The winds are blowing west and we are east. But it's very near if not at my brothers house ... their house backs right up to the hills. The FD usually sits in his backyard when these fires come up. Last Resort
I saw it start up as I was driving in to work. I was one of the first to call it in by the reaction of the 911 operator GLENDORA (CNS) - A fire scorched about 1,700 acres today in the Angeles National Forest north of Glendora, prompting some mandatory evacuations in Glendora and Azusa and the closures of several schools and a community college, authorities said. Three people have been detained, two by Glendora police, one by Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies, NBC4 reported. The blaze -- dubbed the Colby Fire -- was reported about 5:50 a.m. near San Gabriel Canyon Road, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department. Three helicopters were initially sent to the scene, along with a number of firefighting ground crews. Two SuperScooper aircraft later were sent, with water drops beginning after 8 a.m. About 550 firefighters have been deployed in the firefighting effort. At least three homes were among five structures in the upscale neighborhood that have been damaged by the flames, according to broadcast reports. Smoke from the fire was seen as far away as Orange County, reports said. Shortly after 7 a.m., evacuations were ordered in Glendora for an area north of Sierra Madre Avenue, from Grand Avenue to Glendora Mountain Road, according to the Glendora Police Department. About an hour later, the western boundary of the evacuation area was expanded to Azusa Avenue in Azusa, Azusa Police Department officials said. An evacuation center was established at Finkbiner Park, near Foothill Boulevard and Grand Avenue in Glendora. Evacuated pets can be brought to the Pasadena Humane Society at 361 S. Raymond Ave, according to the humane society. A shelter for evacuated horses was set up at the Fairplex, Gate 12, 1101 W. McKinley Ave., in Pomona. School closures in Glendora included Cullen, La Fetra and Sellers elementary schools; and Goddard and Sandburg middle schools. Parents were urged to go to those schools and pick up their children. Goddard Middle School at 859 E. Sierra Madre Ave. was designated to serve as the unified command post, according to the Glendora Unified School District. Citrus College in Glendora was closed today because of the fire, said college spokeswoman Paula Green. She urged students and staff to keep track of developments affecting the school by checking the website at www.citrustruscollege.edu . Also closed was St. Lucy's Priory High School. Glendora Mountain Road was closed, and traffic was slowing on the westbound Foothill (210) Freeway, according to the California Highway Patrol. indian T
That sucks. Stay safe out there, and hopefully the Fire Fighters and mother nature can end this thing fairly quickly. Maybe a little Vigilante Justice to the douche bags that started the blaze (if they're ever released from custody).

Last Resort
GLENDORA, Calif. (KABC) -- Fire officials said Friday they're making good progress in trying to take control of the Colby Fire, as they battle the flames from spreading any further. As of midday Friday, the Colby Fire has charred 1,709 acres and remains 30 percent contained. Officials said there were a few flare-ups overnight, but crews worked in and around structures to put out hot spots and protect homes. They said structure protection is in good shape, and crews will turn their focus to putting out active flames still burning in the forest. Glendora police arrested three men Thursday and booked them for recklessly starting a fire. A source involved in the investigation told Eyewitness News that the three men will face a federal charge of unlawfully causing timber to burn. They could be charged as early as Friday afternoon. Authorities said 1,176 fire personnel have been assigned to battle the blaze Friday, along with 150 engines, nine helicopters, four fixed-wing air tankers and over 33 hand crews. The blaze erupted around 5:50 a.m. Thursday in the Angeles National Forest near Glendora Mountain Road and Colby Way. Flames spread rapidly and moved down the hill toward homes, forcing 3,700 people to evacuate. Glendora residents were allowed back in their homes Thursday night, but some Azusa residents remain under an evacuation order. All homes between Azusa Avenue, north of Sierra Madre, to the east end of the city remain evacuated. All residences north of Ellsworth Street, west of Azusa Avenue are also under evacuation as of Friday morning. In total, 870 homes have been evacuated in Azusa and 2,000 people have been displaced. The Colby Fire destroyed five homes and damaged 17 buildings. One of the homes destroyed by flames was a guest house on the campus of the historic Singer Mansion, a 1920s Spanish estate built by heirs to the Singer sewing machine fortune on Kregmont Drive. Three injuries were reported from the fire. Authorities say a civilian and a firefighter suffered minor burn injuries, and a another firefighter suffered a minor ankle injury. The fire comes as the Southland faced another day of dry and windy conditions. A red-flag warning is scheduled to remain in effect until 6 p.m. Friday due to persistent winds and low humidity levels. The red-flag warning applies to the San Gabriel and Santa Monica mountains, the Santa Clarita, San Fernando and San Gabriel valleys, the Los Angeles coastal zone, the Westside, metropolitan L.A., Orange County and Ventura County. http://youtu.be/im0VRyQlROs
Airpirate
These guys rock! There are 3 DC-10's configured for this in the US, based out of Edwards. They flew support at the fires we had up here last summer. Flying in close proximity to fires is unlike anything you can experience, wicked turbulence, up and downdrafts that will drive you into the ground , swirling vorticies that will roll you over violently, these guys are the best, stay safe out there
