2blackbelts
I guess I have been a little out of the loop on this, and just over the weekend heard the big controversy over the remarks he made about the gay and lesbian community. A&E was going to suspend him, and now he is back on in early January. This is is a very hot topic, as it affects alot of people, and the way others look and treat them as well. A couple of DJ's were debating the subject of free speach while I was driving to the Lake Thursday evening. One said he should be able to say what he wants, while the other agreed, but you have to be ready for the tidal wave your free speech can produce. Free speech is never "free", there is always a price tag. The one DJ said, well, if there is free speech without liability, than yell "fire" in a crowded theatre. I have never seen one episode of Duck Dynasty, nor will I probably ever watch one, just not my cup of tea. Honestly, maybe some opinions are better kept to ones self. 2 bb
dk007
Yelling "Fire" in a crowded theater is actually against the law. Voicing your opinion is not....at least not yet.
Wildhorse
Was Phil ask a question in an interview or did he just come out with i don`t like queers? If he was asked a question in an interview maybe they should have known the answer before it was asked or not be surprised when you ask a 60 odd year old a question and he tells you how be feels. I'am not a prude by any stretch of the imagination but where was the outrage about the Miley Cuyrs performance? How many mindless sitcoms are aired with gay couples? If it offends you turn if off. Same with DD. In all reality just a bunch oc liberal fucktards with their panties in a twist.
randallj
One it was an interview with GQ Mag, second he was talking about his faith, most people should really read the interview before they comment, he was not on his show but A&E thinks that he should be PC, a course they said they are not taking his rights away. The group GLAAD which started this, has had it back fire on them as A&E. All I'm saying is read the interview and form your own opinion.

Once I read his comments I did not think they would be found offensive. It's his religion, his opinion. There are some people that are w-a-y too sensitive these days. Their outrage does not make them right. Just my 2 cents...
Brock
yeah lots of conjecture and misinformation... he was in interview... they asked him about some subjects and he responded scripturally on how it was a sin and then listed the other sins related to promiscuity, deviant behavior, etc he also added that our primary goal should be to love one another as God loves us his opinion...his faith straight from text of bible. I guess freedom of speech and religion only applies if you agree with the right people.

Charlie Dunemann
Far from my first post, and my comments are worse than calling someone every other name in the book? Brock
can only go by your post count on forum...it said 1st post and joined September 2013. LOL Like now it says you only have 42 posts total. Complaining and cursing the owner of this forum for asking someone to make a SINGLE POST to show they want to be here was a bit much...even if the owner did say the filter was supposed to be for those inactive for 12 months and not everyone. water under bridge. XV62
calling someone every other name in the book?Okay, I'll fess up to "sensitive lurker". Doesn't seem to be too offensive or derogatory to me, but then I'm not too sensitive, nor a lurker. How many names in that book. Maybe you're just prone to hyperbole. mt95
Our founding fathers over 200 years ago, had no idea of the PC police which seem to rule this country today. Had they even thought of what was to come to this country today, they would have included language to prevent such nonsense as it prevails too often these days. They just keep chiseling away our rights bit by bit,, until we come to the realization someday here soon, that those rights ARE GONE!!

dk007
The Founding Fathers would roll over in their graves if they knew how the Constitution and Bill of Rights have been "re-interpreted" and bastardized by judicial and legislative revisions for personal and political gain. Considering the writers of those documents had no idea what America would look like centuries after they drafted them, I think they did a pretty damn good job. They have served us well for the past 237 years, despite various anti-American's efforts to convolute their meanings or circumvent them through Executive Order.
DienCaiDau
If someone asks him how he feels about gays and lesbians, should he censor himself, or give an honest answer? It's all about the money, that's wht A&E wanted to suspend him. From what I gather, his kids said, if he's suspended were all off the show. dk007
Here's a good video showing how racist and bigoted Phil Robertson is. It's rather lengthy but it shows him and his family and tells why he is the way he is. http://freepatriot.org/2013/11/26/watch-second-video-reveals-darker-side-duck-dynasty/

seefriedm
so let me see if I have this right, GQ knows the interviewee and his beliefs. GQ based on knowing said beliefs. asks questions already knowing interviewee's responces. GQ knowing said interviewee is a promanant believer in the word of the lord and knowing said beliefs will incite the left wingers publishes interview. Left wingers cry fowl and say tieir rights have been violated, what about the interviewee's rights? Dis not the left wingers concider his rights? Yes this is why I enlisted in our countries milatary to watch one side bitch about another sides personal beliefs......
dk007
Yep, I think you have it right. If you watch the video, you can hear where A&E wanted them to fight and cuss to create drama. It's similar to the old show "American Chopper" where they fostered and fed an adversarial relationship between Paul Teutle and Paul Jr. to the point it destroyed the family for the sake of "entertainment".
LittleDanielle
Honestly. Free speech or not, when you are a celebrity you need to expect this kind of backlash when you speak your mind on something so controversial (Even though in f'n 2013, almost 2014 it shouldn't be) As someone who is frequently in the public eye, I am careful to watch what I say. If I want to keep working and making paychecks, it is what you do. Do I think the comment was a "set up"? I think they were looking to push the interview and they got what they wanted.
