Last Resort
No, not an announcement for a future Indian Legacy Calendar but an announcement on the past good that has come from the Indian Legacy Calendar. It appears that this very small charitable organization has been able to donate a MUCH higher percentage of the money it has raised and possibly higher total dollar amount than some of the huge well know "Biker charities".It's always good to know who you are doing charitable work for or donating/spending your funds with. http://cyrilhuzeblog.com/2013/11/30/how-does-badd-bikers-against-drunk-drivers-spend-its-money-an-investigation-to-continue/ It is too bad that he current management team at Indian is unable or unwilling to see the good that this small gesture (giving permission) would do ... there is no downside to giving life back to the calendar. It is a win win.
Scalper38
Yeah, they are obviously a joke and I hope their donations dry up. Polaris needs to wake up and approve the calendar!
Last Resort
Their operational expenses seem a little bit high to me, but what do I know.
badndn
I bet the calender gave more money to the people in need than this scam that raised a million bucks. What a scam. They need long jail terms. LONG. Why is consent from Polaris needed? Doesn't this fall under the second use clause? You're not making bikes, you are taking pictures of bikes Indian made. The owners own the bikes, not Polaris. Long as you aren't using the script or other copyrighted material....What a bunch of dicks.
Tin Whiskers
Had a phone call one day. Local DARE program stumping for contributions. DARE educates kids against drugs. I said I would give $25. 15 min. later a girl was at my door wanting the check. I gave the check but was concerned who these people were. I knew the police were involved with them so I talked to the police dispatcher. She told me they were a VERY LEGIT ORG.. I did get the address of where the base was located for this hired out fund raiser. Went there. Dilapidated house. Since has been torn down. No front door to it so I walked right in. Every room full of phones. A shoulder length hair bearded man was there to talk to. No more donations from me. About a year later the local paper wrote a story about these so called fund raisers. The guy I visited was mentioned in the story. 70% of what I gave went to him. Now I only give to orgs. I know who get 100% of the money I give. Red Cross, local homeless shelter... I actually told the guy who called me on behalf of the Ohio State Patrolman's Association to "kiss my ass" one day. Haven't been arrested or beaten yet. (we won't count those alcohol fueled times in the 70's)

Haven't been arrested or beaten yet. (we won't count those alcohol fueled times in the 70's) I used to give to the Texas State Trooper assoc.. light bulb finally came on; when I got my annual call, I asked where the $ went ... crickets. What percentage to the cops .. crickets... If the caller is a volunteer... was told no, he gets paid. Funny part is ..i didn't question it until I got a speeding ticket from a State Trooper; my annual sticker there for him to see didn't do anything for me.... which led to a few brain cells lighting up
Brock
I always ask them to send me something in the mail or by email that shows how money is spent and who they are linking them to the organization of the charity rather than just being a mass call center. I never get anything.
CHIEF DOC 99
Whereas the Indian Legacy Calender would make no direct profit for Indian Motorcycle Company or it's dealer network, it would be cost free worldwide advertising potentially worth big bux. Perhaps if the proceeds were split between Rupert's Kids and a legitimate Charity of Spirit Lake/Polaris's choice to show a direct hands-on sponsership with a prior to release approval of content, corporate heads would move to approve calender production. I hope Robert's efforts to get this Calender approved bear fruit soon. In the meantime why not a Calender full of Springfields & Gilroys? Polaris has had nought to do with either of these expressions of the Indian Marque. As Ed said, the bikes are owned by everyday folks with no ties to Polaris at all except through the logos Spirit Lake is using.

As Ed said, the bikes are owned by everyday folks with no ties to Polaris at all except through the logos Spirit Lake is using. Ruperts's Kids is a legitimate charity. Educate yourself before posting questionable statements that may be seen as disparaging towards a very legitimate and worthwhile charity. In fact, the federal government is looking into copying their money management/business management system as role model for other charities. As for the TM and Polaris, take a look at your Indians...see the logos? See the name of the brand on the side of the tank, the warbonnets, the valanced fenders? All those things make the Indian brand motorcycle what it is, regardless of who currently owns the individual machine, and the intellectual property belongs to Polaris. This isn't guess work, people. Simple facts backed by laws and attorneys. I do not begrudge Polaris for wishing to maintain their IP. I think, as I have since their take over of the brand, that their corporation fails to recognize the individual or small achievements that bring a larger success to their brand. To wit, they are advertising a 2014 Indian calendar as a handout at the Long Beach International Motorcycle show this weekend if your have a 2014 Indian key fob or can answer trivia question. I suggest everyone who can go there get one.
Last Resort
Robert, you read that wrong, just as I did. He is not saying Rupert's Kids is illegitimate He is saying if Indian were to be coaxed by them being able to pick a charity to split funds with that we make sure the charity chosen by Indian be legit.
CHIEF DOC 99
Yes. Read me post over again slowly this time please... That second charity could benefit Veterans for an example. ?Heck establish & administer the second charity yourself even. Then you know both are legit! Maldev
Re-read what I wrote. I read it both ways but in a thread in which references are made to a charity with suspect intentions and funding, Doc's sentence is written in a way that could be seen diminshing Rupert's Kids as I stated. I don't want anyone on this forum to question their legitimacy based on misreading that line. It could have been written this way which would have been correct and not left the notion of legitimacy in question: "Perhaps if the proceeds were split between Rupert's Kids and another legitimate Charity of Spirit Lake/Polaris's choice..." Brock
guys...this has been going on a lot longer than just the past 30 days in trying to get a calendar out. I am nearly positive that Robert has pursued every avenue while making DAMN SURE he is 100% on the right side of any copyright or trademark considerations...especially given his position and experience in media industry. If you want to take a few hundred photographs and throw something together with one of the online graphics shops or a local group...have at it...but cant have IIRA or reference this website as participants. All options have been pursued and weighed....and if it is possible it will happen again but not until Indian responds in positive manner to offer and gives their blessing. That is how it happened for every other ownership team of Indian Motorcycle to make sure the effort was legit and legal....and how I suppose it is going to be handled going forward as long as Robert and his own copyrighted calendar is involved. I know from experience when you have spent hundreds or thousands of hours fighting and clawing at progress....that to have a lot of Monday Night Quarterbacks giving opinions does nothing to help the situation or make you feel like pushing harder to appease them. you want to do something...write letters and post on the Indian Motorcycle facebook or whatever they have...keep it professional and respectful....but share your desires. Otherwise...it is just causing stress and bad memories...hahahahaha I want to see Mercedes on my REDHOTBITCH2 more than anyone...and would ride it to Cali to have it happen...if I can get time off. LOL
SwissIndian
Hmm ...... you can make a calendar with Gilroy and old Indians - surely 'they' can't touch you then (and don't call me Shirley - LOL !!!!!!) - after that, wait and see. Another thousand pardons Senor Roberto for that gramatical faux pas! Spoke to Jessie at Rupert's Kids 317-251-4732...
