Dr. Mark
Pretty cool story. These guys broke the Cannonball run record...by a large margin. Technology marches on. http://www.cnn.com/2013/10/31/us/new-york-los-angeles-cannonball-speed-record/index.html?hpt=hp_c3
Brock
extra 22 gallons of fuel, two laser jammers, radar detectors, three nav units, CB Radio, laptop, real time radar updates, navigator in pass seat......technology guy in back watching for cops, monitoring CB, ...cars 150 miles ahead and behind to monitor for road construction, traffic, detours, or cops trying to come up from behind. they had it planned out to a T....and in a highly modified C55 AMG...but when you own a Lambo dealership it helps I guess. Averaged 98mph for entire trip.....beat record by over 2 hours. Edited November 1, 2013 by Brock
Dr. Mark
The only way I can see to beat this one, is to do all the same stuff, and have air cover...either fixed wing, or helicopter, covering the path ahead, rather than the pace cars like they did. you might be able to run it in the 110 to 120 range. And it would be scary as shit.
Scalper38
Yeah, it would be cool, but how about they just do it w/o all the technology. Just a plain car and engine like the first guys. The improvement in engine power alone should allow them to beat the time. It's all the variables like traffic, construction, etc. that would make it a true comparison of their ability. Mostly, 'cause the cops these days use the damn technology too.
SlvrStrk
So, they have upped the ante. We'll see who goes for it within a year.

No disrepect.. but.. he didn't own the dealership .. but worked there. His nav was a customer of it.. .. The Car was purchased with over 100k miles on it.... Still... pretty awesome overall. I did Dallas to Talladega back in '07 in my Vette .. averaged 75mph the whole way. That was with gas, piss and food breaks. These friggn' nutz had bedpans, supplies and Radar Jammers.... maybe I need to do better planning for my next NASCAR destination trip . Box of DEPENDS, Six pack of Red Bull , stash of Jerky ?
