Sculpture I Just Finished

Recommended Posts

This is a clay sculpture I did to pay tribute to the great Lakota Sioux Holy Man/Chief, Sitting Bull. Those that are my friends on FB have probably already seen it and I apolgize for that. Thought others may be interested. He's big. Almost life size.

That's some great work, Eddie!

Do you use a kiln to fire your work?

I used to make ceramic molds & objects as a youngster, Grams had a kiln in the basement.

You could make molds from that Sitting Bull bust and turn out some fine fire glazed color finishes.

Anyhow, I admire your work, Bro.

Thank you for the compliment. Yes He will be fired. Funny you should mention mold making. My girlfriend's mom (in my teens) owned a ceramic shop and like you I helped make the molds. Problem with something like Sitting Bull is he has undercuts in all directions. It would be hard to make a ceramic mold. It would have to be many pieces. I had thought of a silicone mold and do bronzed resin. I did a big fender warbonnet with intentions of making a ceramic mold off it. Unfortunately it exploded in the fkiln. If you did firing, you know that can happen. Probably still had moisture in it. I made the warbonnet with making the mold in mind and made it without undercuts. Of course that means compromises on the look, but that is the way it is with mold making. If you have ideas on molds, I am all ears. Edited by badndn

Had a 30" x 30" fire brick electric kiln ~ Sis is donating it along with about a hundred molds to a local potter as she is downsizing.

Grams had alotta molds ~ religious, nativity figurines, dishware, art objects ~ all kinds of stuff.

It's been nearly 50 years since I messed with ceramics.

Did some lifesize Yodas in latex when StarWars first came out, though.

A great hobby that has made some wealthy when a distributor gets interested in your line.

Just finished his eyes. Eyes are the hardest part. People's eyes tell the story. Can you feel his pain in his eyes?

That is what Mark Moses needs at his shop.

You ought to start doing nudes for your enjoyment Eddie. Hell, you could have Brock recruit the woman and have a look see to make sure they meet your standards.

Or you could do one of CKelly. :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thanks Brock. Means a lot to me. For those that are obsessed with Kelly's asscrack, he's coming to the Barn Ride. He is making/selling resin casting of his cheeks and asscrack. Be good coffee table display/conversation pieces. Scratch and sniff option available.

LOL. I remember one year at the Barn we were setting up the live feed..... had a few viewers...Brock decides to moon the viewers....one of them starts hitting on Brock. Pissed him off soooo bad. Or at least he acted like it pissed him off. I caught him back in the Barn in front of the cam nude. Not sure what that was all about.. lol

Not sure if Obsession is the right word....least not for me!...but a few chuckles were shared over it in the past...I will decline the offer...especially the S&S.

A great talent you have there BND...
