Anybody Have A Temperpedic Bed?

Recommended Posts

the rear lay-down seat from a 84 gmc conversion van that I've been sleeping on for the last 10 years has finally bit the dust. one of the foots on it has broke for the third time and I'm not gonna fix it again.

my mom gave me one of those blue air mattress a few weeks ago for temporary, but its more like a raft for the swimming pool, and I actually like it but she says shes surprised it doesn't kill my back, and my gal hates coming over and sleeping on it and she also doesn't like sleeping on the floor cause it gets cold. I guess I'm just used to it.

I'm thinking about using my tax return this year and getting one of those sleep number beds. I'm reading nothing but good stuff about them online.

anybody here have one?

any complaints?

Looked at the #beds and the tempurpedic 8 years ago...ended up with King Koil pillowtop (firm) ~ best bed I've found cost @$1200, has held up real well.

Tall bed close to 4' tall...frame, box spring and mattress.

No backaches.

Go to a store and test drive a few when you shop.

Store I went to had them all right there to try out.

Yep. We bought a Queen Sized one about two months ago and frigging love it. I can't remember the model but it was about 3500.00. Worth every penny. I'll try to remember to see which model it is, but it is TempurPedic brand.

We bought a Sleep number bed 4 years ago because my wife's back was broken many years ago on a construction project. We have no complaints so far and to my surprise have not had and problems with compressors, lines or anything else regarding the bed. The price at that time was around $3500. Mention to your Mom you are thinking of moving back home and she might just buy you one herself. :oh:

Dark you're one funny sumbitch.

And he is a cheap ass one too. Want spend the 40 a month so he can get internet access and send us more naked pictures. We bought on of those sleep number beds probably 8 yrs ago. My lower back use to always give me problems and since the sleep mumber bed I think it has only bothered me a couple of times. I think ours was 3000+ when the wife ordered it. She went to the store and looked at them but I never did. Some guys at worked had one and they liked them so I bought on here say and what the wife said.

wife and I needed a new King mattress 4 years ago....ours took a beating being in military and moving all the time as the people moving always fold it in half to work up stairs and such...and they just wear out if you use them heavily...LOL. anyhow I was looking at the Sleep Number and the Tempurpedic.........even spent night in hotels that had both beds listed to give them a shot. The price was a bit high for what I wanted to get but figured if they were as good as stated it would work out.

We went by Costco to see what they had and saw their Novaform memory foam mattresses...so when I got home I did some research. They sell a couple different models and brands but appears the Nova Form was made in America and out of hundreds of reviews only had a couple negative reviews which is common for anything.

We ended up buying a Queen size for our guest room with thoughts it if twas good we can get a King for us...if bad....welll, tough...it is only the guest room. LOL

We absolutely loved it......it was phenomenal. Wife is 135lbs...I am 240lbs....was first time I can remember since I was in my 20s that I did not wake up with sore back and continuously toss and turn all night trying to get comfortable. It did take some time to get use the the mattress as you sink into it a few inches...your body heat has you sink a little further in summer vs winter so you dont just SPIN in bed to turn...but is very very comfortable. So we also bought their King sized NovaForm Pure Comfort pillow top for our bed....it had the three or four different layers including a layer that helps you stay cool in summer. I think this is now their NovaForm Serafina Gel King....but back then it was not a gel topper just a different foam. Anyhow it was around $900+ dollars delivered to our home.

Comes in a box the size of a big trunk.....is fairly heavy so I carried it to bedroom and put next to bed and opened and let it expand and absorb air.

It does require either a special bed or for you to modify your current setup. I cut a piece of plywood to cover the box springs completely. This gives an absolutely flat surface for the mattress. If you dont, the bed does not have the right support underneath and will not be comfortable or sleep correctly. Some get away with it but it was recommended you have that flat surface...so one sheet of plywood plus a little from another and both the King and Queen beds were good to go. We are now 4 years through and I am going to spin the bed as it is just now starting to compress more on my side than the wifes. Still sleeps fantastic...just my heavy ass is hard on it...hahaha...hers is still like brand new. If I go another 4 years or more on this mattress it will be longest lasting mattress I have ever owned in 30 years of marriage....and also the most comfortable.

Oh, you do need to modify your fucking a little for it as your knees sink in it more than regular mattress. some of you may not worry about that anymore....but was a concern of mine...while different at first....not a game changer and now dont even think of it...a regular mattress feels awkward now. LMMFAO. Just saying....hahahha

They are thick mattresses so you will need the full bed sheets....but I highly recommend it even if you buy the big Tempurpedics that can be quite expensive most the time at MSRP.......the costco version is a good alternative in my opinion now having two of them for over 4 years. I would not sleep on it the first day though.....follow their recommendations...open it and put it in place on your bed frame setup and leave the sheets off of it so it can continue expanding the millions and billions of tiny air pockets that make it up and vent any gases from the foam...but they were minimal in my instance. 24 hours later put on the sheets and try it out.

My first one did not expand fully and one edge was permanently compressed. Week later no change...called Costco and they shipped a brand new mattress no questions asked...and paid a company to come pick up the other to return to them....all for no charge. I just leaned the deformed version against the wall until they came for it a couple days later. They did all the heavy lifting....no fuss at all.

dang brock! you haven't wrote that much for me since I've been here :couple:

well, thanks everybody for replies. I have to be honest, I'm going to have a super hard time justifying spending this kind of money when I'm just fine sleeping about anywhere I lay my head. Its my girlfriend that really wants one. we actually got into last night discussing this. It started cause of other reasons. I also got "the talk" again

It escalated and then I got accused of going from one week of living like a immature teenager that lives like the partys never gonna end, to going to the next week being a reclusive that just wants to tinker in the garage like a lonely old man.

sheesh.... If I wanted to be belittled as much as I was last night, I'd just get on the forum and strike up a conversation with vintage62 -_-

I got fed up and told her to go pound sand. so she did. I just laid down on my air mattress on the floor and stared at the ceiling till I went to sleep. kinda sucked.

I am going to look at some other beds than just the sleep number bed before I buy.

I do need to buy some kind of bed.

I guess theres also the fear that if I was to sleep on something so comfortable I might never get outta bed :oh:

Please add a new section to the forum, maybe two. One should be "bedding". This would be useful for discussions about mattresses, what is the best thread count for sheets, pillow talk, etc. We should also have a "home" section. Useful for posts about wallpaper, kitchen gadgets and decorating tips. Thank you for making this forum meet the needs of all attending.

Too funny .. we can't discuss the most pressing issues today ( ie politics) , but we can discuss bedding in our homes... go figure

Bedding issues should be confined to who is sharring the bedding, get it? At least Brock added how the bed changes how you have to set up to fuck. Added something of interest to all. I mean Fucking in general, not Brock fucking.

you know you want to know my moves and gyrations so that you all can attain the same level of satisfaction from your lovers....hahahahahahaha It does limit the bouncy sexy or Kama Sutra Positions...but on the plus side....it limits perceptible shake or bounce to the room or adjoining rooms to ZERO.....is quiet...no squeaky springs.....and they wont let bed bugs live in it either...hahahahaha

particular brand, model or individual mattress may go against these findings. Full article here...hahahaha

Good link Brock, useful if you have kids in the house I suppose. However, I used to date a screamer, so how quiet the bed is was just plain irrelevant.

you have to teach her the advantage of doggy style and then face down in the pillow on a memory foam bed and not even a screaming banshee can be heard!!! LOL

My kids are 26 and 23 and this bed is still best one I have ever slept on......haha

Now that is the practical advise I come here for.
