Dr. Mark
Interesting. Finally a Red and Black that really IS rare.... I wonder how many there will be...and I wonder if they will count down backwards to "1", as in the last one.
CHIEF DOC 99
Looks like there is more final edition info at: INDIAN MOTORCYCLE WEBSITE link "With an extremely limited number of Indian Chief Final Edition bikes being built, the biggest question is whether to ride it or just proudly display it in your garage. Marking the end of one chapter in our history and setting forth on the beginning of the most exciting one yet, the Final Edition is a tribute to all that was and all that will be. A stunning yet powerful bike, it features the 1939 World’s Fair paint scheme of Thunder Black and Indian Red with gold pinstripes, along with a refined 105ci PowerPlus engine. And, to make it even more distinctive, each Final Edition features a numbered frame badge. So you know your exact place in the Indian legacy. jmaher
......along with a refined 105ci PowerPlus engine. So what makes this engine refined? Can these refinements be added to my 09? And I'll get the jump on the beaten to a pulp dead horse issue about the ECU. Maybe it is that. Joe
Dr. Mark
25 I figured it had to be fewer than the Limited Edition. I'd guessed 15 or 25, or thereabouts.
badndn
Last of the Mohicans boys. There will never be another Indian Chief with this look, or this stance. Chew it like a piece of good steak. Enjoy it. Savor it. Mark the moment. We can never go back. Indian Motorcycle...., it's name, it's legacy, it's mystique will be totally and completely engulfed by the dark hole we call "Corporate America". Potter7
Finally, are we finished with the LE,FE, Limited and all the other Indian's that run like shit, handle like shit and break down at every turn. Now can we please build a bike that can live up to the name. I think they can, but well see. Let's leave the past in the past and look forward to the bright future.
Sam Hayne
it's the reliability an issue since the 50's & part of what has killed Indian? Seems they are living up to the name.
Potter7
Indian did not have a reliability issue until Dupont sold it and new models were introduced. Indian was world known for winning races and durability. HD was always in the rear view in the early years. Victory today makes a far superior bike than the KM Indian. TallRider
"And, to make it even more distinctive, each Final Edition features a numbered frame badge. So you know your exact place in the Indian legacy." I think we all know our "exact place in the Indian legacy" and it doesn't take a numbered frame badge to remind us. I'm afraid that Badndn is right . . . "Indian Motorcycle...., it's name, it's legacy, it's mystique will be totally and completely engulfed by the dark hole we call "Corporate America"." If Polaris is marketing to those who would "proudly display it in your garage", then they have a different understanding of motorcycle ownership than I do. At $38,000+ . . . I'll never own another Indian.

Dr. Mark
You know, If I one of the guys who had bought an LE, I think I'd be a little annoyed. Indian sort of intimated that the LE would be the end of the line. Of course I DO like the paint on the LE better....They are both pretty slick though. Saving my bucks for the 2014.... Red, with gold trim. Yup.... C'mon, August....

My Bomber runs like a scalded dog and that is before NODAK works their mojo. As far as handling, I passed Harley's at Sturgis riding two-up with my wife through all sorts of twisties and the bike handled wonderfully. The bikes brakes are also amazing. Slow speed handling is better than my Gilroy. Comfort is also bar none.

I've got a question: If you were to spend this kind of coin on the "Final Edition", wouldn't you be seriously concerned about the future availability of parts knowing full well that they are building something entirely new? I'd be seriously pissed if that we're to become an issue. Hork

Indian was "totally and completely engulfed by the dark hole we call Corporate America" the minute those guysin Gilroy Calf. added big fenders and Indian badges to a HD clone. You guys here are a small minority who lament the passing of Indians based on HD designes but the rest of the motorcycle world eagerly awaits a clean sheet, all new Indian owing nothing to HD. Polaris makes a good bike, they have excellent engineers, a huge support network of dealers, supliers etc so what is the problem? I don't get it. If you want a HD get a damn HD. I don't want a HD so I would never buy an S&S powered bike, which has been Indians biggest issue since 1999: Nobody takes them serious. I guess every bike that has a V Twin "Cruiser" must be an HD Clone? My '00 Chief looks nothing like an HD Soft tail .. and S&S motors are bullet proof some folks might argue ( no engine is 100% across the board ) . Curious how the PP105 is a problem relating back to '99 .. I've read these types of comments before..... normally from Pro HD folks slamming the Indians..... and in every case, I've laughed them into the corner ( never hurts that my HD usually makes theirs look like shit.. gives me yet more ammo )

But if anyone wants to get pissy the Indian VTwin was around long before HD came up with a copy.
indiantoo
Yada Yada Yada. Once again the early years gave them breathing room until they could push out the PP. I really like that my Gilroy is Like a Titan, Big Dog,OCC, And any other big dollar bike that are all Clones. ( When i worked for Indian rumors were there that S&S was designing the new motor ie. PP??? I should say that in 2001&2002 it was almost impossible to have support for anyone including the Dealers! Tomohawk is putting out Indian motors for some cusom bike builders??? (Clones?? ) The public, the Dealers, and all on lookers are really gun shy because of the in and out trend of this company, and it will be good if they can overcome the stigmatism of this practice or trend. I love my indian better than all the HD i have had, and i have had a lot in 40+ years. I do not see alot of people linning up for dealerships or bikes. I hope i am proven wrong. Four issues in order---- Price, Dependability, support, and or some kind of dealer network. I really can't afford to take a bike 600 mile to a Dealer. I enjoy MC's for riding enjoyment and not garge candy and at 38k I will stick with my clone! I would like to see them suceed beause HD has REALLY sold hard core riders down the Corporate river since the mid 90s.

S&S guts will still work.... different guts than our Gilroys cuz we didn't use a crank position sensor but will still work non the less....
Brock
yep still EVO as I stated the PP is an EVO and that is the similarity with HD......did not say they would not work, just that the 105 is different from 100 internally while still being an EVO.
