darkrider
the oldest I'm finding on a google search is a unrestored 1903. I have always heard some debate that no 1903 or even 1904 harley davidsons exist. And why did the the 1954 harleys carry the 50th anniversery badge? I do know that there where actually 1901 Indians. just wondering if one still actually exist
darkrider
I find pics like this one here.... http://www.vintagebi...es/1901-indian/ claiming to be a 1901. yet pics like the 1901 here... http://en.wikipedia....ianHedstrom.jpg seem to be a differant bike. I notice the differant sprocket and no tank on the bottom of the frame
Dr. Mark
Most assuredly. The 1901 F-Head Camelback. This is the only documented 1901 known, and is the third one built. Take that Harley-Davidson.

Last Resort
For the first time anywhere At the Creation exposes the false history upon which modern writers and experts have based their own renderings of Harley-Davidson's origin, including the faulty belief that 2003 is the 100th model year of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Wagner's hard-hitting account includes the stunning revelation that the machine widely celebrated today as a "1903" model almost certainly never existed outside the imagination of early advertising men, and that the first marketable Harley-Davidson was actually completed in 1904, with bikes for general sale first available in 1905! These amazing conclusions are backed up by early Motor Company documents and sworn testimony in a court of law! http://www.atthecreation.com/new/book.html
Dr. Mark
awesome!!!! thank you again, dr mark!!!! do you know where its located? Sort of. It was auctioned off in January 2011, by Bonham's in Las Vegas, for $131,500... to a collector who was reportedly a Brazilian. One of the seminal pieces of American motorcycling history, it is now presumed to be in South America. .

Dr. Mark
Awesome collection there. (Great photos too, 335!) If you will note, the differences between the 01-06 are minimal. Documentation is everything, particularly the 1901's, because of that.
