KenB
I live in Monument, just a few miles away. Here's a link to some pictures from around town and from our back deck. http://s1149.photobucket.com/albums/o591/barrettken/Colorado%202012/Waldo%20Canyon%20Fire/ A few pix from the album:

NCBlackhawk
Awful. I grew up in the Springs on the east side near Power's Dairy (Power's Blvd now). We had a great view of the mountains...must be horrific to watch. Stay safe!

Colorado Rider
Grizz is up in Greeley about 100 miles north of Colorado Springs. Manitou Springs escaped any structural damage. The fire is still heading north towards the AF Academy.

KenB
The fire has backed down quite a bit in the last couple of days. I heard last night that it was 10% contained and it's out of the city itself now. 347 homes burnt to the ground and 1 person died. In terms of structural damage this is the worst fire in Colorado history. I live north of the city in the town of Monument and so was in no real danger. At the worse we were in the "pre-evacuation" zone where you have to be packed and ready to go at a moments notice. Fortunately the fire made it no further north than into the southern portion of the Air Force Adademy.

SlvrStrk
Use to live just north of the AFA. Glad things have finally settled down. Did any of our Colorado IIRA members lose a house?
