Dr. Mark
Damn. I hate that. RIP Bob. My favorite Welch song wasn't one of the biggies, like 'Sentimental Lady", it was this one... (I changed the video...the one I originally put up the live version from the Roxy, but the sound was crummy.)

Listening it to brings me back to a much simpler time in my life. I was young, drawing the GI bill going to school, I had hair, girls wore patchouli oil, no STD's that killed ya, parents and most of my friends were alive. Only thing that really bothered me back then was disco. Then a wonderful man named David Berkowitz, coupled with the Chicago White Sox "Death to Disco Day" helped end that. I had life by the "short and curly's" and didn't even know it. Any song with "North Carolina" in it is good, this one happens to be one of my favorite all time songs. That is why we listen to music, isn't it? Takes our troubles away, or sooths them and puts you in a time travel machine. I got to go put a friend in the dirt this weekend. I am supposed to give a eulogy. I am having real issues with this as I get very emotional thinking about the road I've traveled with my friend over the decades, if y'all can believe me being less than verbose, this is the case at present with me. Thanks Mark for the interlude....
Mickdanewf
Simpler time.....you got that right Pete......this one brings me back to "going out behind the house.....spark'n one up.....then come back in...lay down and put my head between 2 speakers....and let this one go.....followed by Santana,Pink Floyd, and maybe a bit of Bob Seger and Niel Young... Shit man...I havent had those thoughts in 25 years.....well maybe a week.....but anyways....Thanks Mark...good one! RIP Bob Welch....there were other alternatives.....see above! mick PS.....Pete....a tough one Brother.....no doubts there...you'll do it strong and proud my friend ...you, Mike and his family and friends will be happy you did!
nik
This news reminded me of Ronnie Montrose, another guitar player from that era that took his own life recently. Sad to hear...

Brock
i feel you Pete....music is a great way to remember simpler times or significant events. I too get very emotional when talking about friends, death, love and my military career with people I care about. At my retirement ceremony my speech had the entire audience in tears...myself included. God Bless.
