Vintageroger
The State of Michigan has finally change the law, the Governor just signed it. We have the right to ride without a helmet. It took years to get this passed. It's a great day!

Micmac
It is good to hear of a freedom being restored, instead of being stripped away for a change. This is about freedom of choice. We have had similar bills introduced here only to die in committee. Congratulations Michigan.

Dare I say he is a GOP first term Governor.

Micmac
Helmets have never been proven effective over 20 MPH. If you lived here Doc, we have over 90 days a year with 90 plus degree days. Your head cooks. They restrict hearing and vision. Personally, I think they provide a false sense of security to the rider. There are times given the choice I would wear a helmet, other times I would opt out. It would be nice to have a choice. The majority of motorcycle accidents are caused by operators of 4 wheeled vehicles. Educate, not legislate!

Brock
I dont have to wear one in SC...but of my own free choice I usually wear one riding to work in traffic and on long trips or when I expect poor weather especially rain....just in case. Otherwise I go lidless... I like having the choice depending on the situation, weather, traffic and my demeanor.

hasbin
This is a good thing, After riding most of my childhood on a race-track & all of my adult life on the street wearing a helmet, I must say the few times in Tejas & Ark. I rode without a bucket I was uncomfortable. There have been a few times that I was damn glad to have had it on, hitting a black patch of 1000000000000000000000000 bee's in Arizona comes to mind & hail the size of golf ballz in Ark would be another, Not to mention the times I went break-dancin down the street for one reason or another..... I say let there be a CHOISE Edited April 14, 2012 by hasbin
uplander
unfortunately if you have 5 bikes it will cost and additional 464 a year for me to not where that helmet here in Michigan in insurance! It was 5,000 before. Talk to your insurance co.

CHIEF DOC 99
yes but I have 5 bikes on the policy not one said it will go up 464 a year! Insurance lobby has fought tooth & nail since 1969 to keep the lid law on the books here in Michigan. ABATE & Others have fought long & suffered defeat year after year... Besides you can afford it or you wouldn't have 5 of 'em...Tuff it out, Kev or do some insurance shoppin' ~ I'm sure this could drive competitive rates from some good companies... Lookin' forward to occasional lidless riding like I enjoyed B4 they fukt it up back in '69.
