hardway
Arguing over a show they claim not to watch and bias against bikes they've never bothered to look at and anything not authentic harley is quickly dismissed. This is how hardly a davidson gets away with putting out dated crap and charging an arm and a leg for it. I'd be more interested inovation and compition. That's what keeps the industry from going stagnent. I'm not a fan of victory but I'm happy for any american compntion that mat lead to a stronger industry and a better product. Harleynot
Charlie (PPScoutrider) got me to thinking...... Harleynot 2.0, will try and re-tell an old story, but with a different delivery method.... Once upon a time, I had a Fat Boy that I enjoyed riding every chance I could. I like to hang with good friends and enjoy good times where ever I wandered. I never gave it a second thought about "being Superior" to other riders. I just liked this particular Harley because it was loud, fast and most importantly.....silver and black.....I had a couple of hot rods, but I always seemed to get the most enjoyment out of riding motorcycles. Getting lost on the lonely back roads, the hunt for an Oasis of a Dive Bar in the middle of Nowhere is a blast for me. I enjoy time spending hours and hours with a few good friends and all the stories we made up and or created along the way. Motorcycling, as a hobby so to speak, provides me with many opportunities to have my kinda fun.. But more the more I rode with HD only "bikers" , I found these fake HD honks were just giving it to the civilians we met along the way. Really busting balls for no other apparent reason except for the fact that civilians did not ride a Harley. That seemed absurd to me. I have met some pretty cool people along my travels. But these HD fakers would just not stop with the elitist attitude. I quickly left the H.O.G riders group and found some weekend warriors that more closely fit my style of riding, which at the time was "getting lost for the weekend ".... then one day at a stop light, late 1999 or early 2000, a Big Black Chief pulled along side...his bike was bigger, louder and nastier than my HD. I quickly found out it was also..faster. I like faster... Instantly I said to myself, that is a beautiful bike..where have these Indians been all my life? I thought they were all basket cases.....within a week later I traded in my HD for in for a Chief. I was so caught up in the HD marketing, that I did not even know there were such Beautiful Vintage options available for motorcycle enthusiasts. I thought my HD was king of the hill.......NOPE. Back in the day, people asked what kinda Harley is that ? It's not a Harley I would politely answer. No attitude needed... It's all fun and games, it truly is for me. After owning several Indian motorcycles, I have found a tool to give HD riders a little bit of their own medicine...and to entertain myself.... Just in this thread alone....on this page...look at the signatures.... Tony's beautiful black and white shot.... Charlie and Sally looking as proud as can be, behind their Bad Ass Scout... PJ , "Peacocking" for the camera, on his awesome looking Scout.... You guys understand, I don't have to say a word. Yes it all sounds a bit hypocritical...but I'll still ride with ya no matter what ya ride....... HD's in the back though... .I don't share so much here these days.... ..but I truly do enjoy the friendships I have made thru owning this particular Brand of Motorcycle.... ......I believe we are in good hands now......... ....The Legend of Indian Motorcycle continues............ * do it justice Polaris !
