Doc Loco
Alaska (44) & Vermont(30) have good personal freedom indexes of 5th & 4th respectively. Maine also has good personal freedom index of 7th out of 50. Obviously, personal freedoms are not as highly valued as 'other' freedoms in this particular construct. Wonder why the freedoms are not broken down individually and easier to see where the repression of rights, excess taxations & limits to economic expansion truly appear. Micmac
I dunno, I found this in the Bangor Daily News, it was facilitated by a University so obviously the research was trotted before a review committee by the school before it went out the door with their name on it, must be a degree of accuracy. That would be interesting though with subjects such as gun ownership, voter registration, and so forth. The states generally thought of as "liberal" did not fare well. Review NY, Mass, and Kali. I was surprised to see NC's outcomes.

Cuz it's meant to foster changes, changes that pollsters or reviewers desire. Don't see any credentials to suggest it is anyone in the know. Hell, even if Indian Brave signed off on it we would then at least know the agenda to an extent!!

I agree, there seems to be some under the table spin with studies that dont show the whole demographics and only a conclusion drawn from unknown quantifiers & qualities. This is not good clear factual info ~ it is instead a politically motivated choir preachers effort...an opinion based on an unkown value system. In other words : "We are a prestigious University ~ Take our word for it." Like the Global Warming and Scientific Experiments that are done with prejudged criteria. A Sheep Flock Goad in truth... They should at least show the origins and graphs of these stats for those with a brain to investigate & consider for truthful contents & conclusions. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyM5Wnxgka8&feature=related Edited June 22, 2011 by Doc Loco
Micmac
Most research has to pass the muster of an ethics committee, at least in the realm of Psychology. It is unethical to manipulate outcomes to support one's ideas in the halls of academia,at least when I was doing research- now think tanks, that's a different story. On the other hand if a school has an endowment from someone and the data does not support the particular outcome of the study, the report might not be published again, I am speaking of the social sciences. I do not know about the Political Sciences or law as they are not my discipline. I do know Dr.Wear had a really nice turd cutter, and I paid very close attention in her advanced statistical analysis classes, perhaps not to statistical analysis, but to more important matters.
