Having just been to ES for the first time I found this interesting. And if the mentioned shop owner is like that a store to stay out of. Read all 6 pages. Several towns people and shop owners chime in.

Damn. Made it to page 2 and I'm already sick and tired of hearing the whiny bitchy assholes berate the one who had the issue without knowing the facts. Seems like all those on that forum (so far) only want to hear a damn electric motor buzz instead of hearing any type of engine exhaust. I'm sticking with my straight pipes and I have never cranked my motor while in town, especially those that post signs requesting such like Eureka Springs. And BTW, I've never heard of anyone in our group getting acosted while riding there. I tend to think we'll be back and that store owner will relocate or retire. JMHO

damn we go to e.s's several times a year living as close as we do have never had a problem like that. yes there are assholes there they are everywhere in the good ole usa. as far as the loud pipes i dont think the police set up road blocks looking for straight pipes. hell the lady may have ran out of her legelized pot and was upset or had ran out of the white powered substance IDK.

I remember last year some hippie chick giving us shit about the bikes. I didn't make it down this year, I forgot my canoe.

Whatever the actual story here (loud pipes, etc.), I think this gives us one more reason to not "draw attention" to ourselves when in the Branson/ES's area. I happened to ride to ES's with someone who was rapping his bike off in ES, and I was pissed. My wife finally told him to knock it off cuz she knew me doing it might end up with a little more than just telling him. I didn't see any reference in the link/thread to Indians (may have missed it), but in the event I didn't, that's a good thing, as the referenced incident and many of the posts appear to coincide with IRIP. To me, loud pipes are not for drawing attention to yourself while slowly cruising through town, they are meant to save lives on the open highway and or in rural areas where peeps may not be paying close enough attention, and you can't stop the bike on a dime like you can when slowly going through town--just my thoughts.
