Doc Loco
Chicago CBS reporting that gas will be $5 dollars by Memorial Day! Do you own oil stocks ? or is this sarcasm? Funny how the recent increases of millions of barrels of domestic oil production has not put a dent in the price of fuel... Funny Thing, Huh? Brock
it is from all the fucking speculation that goes in to oil prices....some numb nuts says...wow.....something might happen in Libya or someone in Iran does not like us.....so since things MIGHT GO TO FUCK in 9 months I am going to raise prices now....and then i am going to sell my shares to 10 other guys before it gets to market so we ALL MAKE SOME MONEY on the fuel prices... That is what drives up the fucking market...speculators on wall street GUESSING and using FEAR MONGERING to have excuse for higher prices. Funny thing is they never lower prices through speculation....by saying...damn Egypt is calmer....Libya is slowing down....we have lots of oil in North America so lets sell our fuel at price $20 per barrel cheaper cuz I think we are turning the corner on this bad streak. MOTHER FUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All the while I read Cuba is going to start drilling off Florida coast....WTF

All the while I read Cuba is going to start drilling off Florida coast....WTF And, let's not forget that a major part of Odumba's campaign platform was the controling and or removing of speculation in energy commodities. Even his appoited commisioner of the commodities exchange commission has been on television stating that speculation is causing this, not supply issues. When asked what Odumba's position is on this, the commissioner stumbles and fumbles around like he has just been asked to recite some esoteric mathematical equation known only to the one who created it. Un-effin-believable!! . . . . . . . or maybe not. What is unbelievable are the people who bought into Odumba's "speeches" and voted for him

PPScoutrider
I hear ya, DocLoco, but the historical, redundant rhetoric is different from saying you are going to control speculators causing otherwise unjustified price fluctuations, as in higher prices despite supply and demand economics. BTW, given your ability to diagnose, disect, expound upon, enlighten, caution and provide resources/references on Indian motorcycles/other "topics", is your surname by chance "House"??!! BTW, given your ability to diagnose, disect, expound upon, enlighten, caution and provide resources/references on Indian motorcycles/other "topics", is your surname by chance "House"??!! The Commodities Market is the last bastion of Capitalism... Who have you been listening to??? A Socialist? Much more primal than the stock exchange. It is all about setting future prices today ~ Futures are being traded is all. No one predicts the future with 100% accuracy. This was originally formed so farmers could hedge their best efforts against a crop failure. It has expanded to include precious metals, oil, gas, currencies ~ nearly any resource or crop is listed in some Commodity Index somewhere in the world. If you are a Capitalist it is your right & duty to speculate in Futures trading ~ ask any farmer or rancher ~ it is insurance against disaster & Acts of God. There are bodies in place to oversee the speculation of Commodities Traders. Perhaps we could modify the allowable limits of leveraging, but that would need to be even handed in its regulatory authority. I know guys who lost thier ass in Commodities ~ one in particular comes to mind ~ after he lost he sold everything and got a seat on the Exchange ~ up close & personal he recouped all his losses made lots of friends and is quite 'permanently' wealthy nowadays. Doc Loco
If gas prices really bother you that much, you should buy some gas or oil futures options for say, August 2011...hold 'em till the durn things are worth more (say at $5/gallon gas price level in June) ~ sell 'em and apply profits with laughter on the way to the pump. That's the difference between Capitalizing and being a paycheck to paycheck person. Notice I said 'options' and not a futures contract...there are huge differences in risk. Paper trading without money will show you the results possible or you can gage future trending by comparing past charts. It's the patriotic thing to do...most people don't want to bother though. You do need to moniter pricing so as to sell at the right moment ~ so it can consume a bit of time and attention to make it pay off ~ of course you can instruct your commodities broker to sell at a certain price point ~ but you still need to be on top of it to win. If they used the old way to measure the inflation like back in 1979 it would be around 10% now. They have to take away the creit card from the DC CROOKS!
