I can't understand why anyone would want to do that. I'd love to live in Michigan. My Dad had a camp in Houlton Lake before he died. I think the woman he married from Kentucky still owns it. Really nice place in July and August.

Well Pete, Redford ain't quite as picturesque as Houghton Lake - never was.

Besides there's all that cheap border squeezin' Mexifornian labor to be had...

Tony Carlini went Hollywood long before the move - started the bizness in 1969...always been real proud! Just look at the retail prices listed at Carlini Design. Made a name for themselves with the EVO engine to trans forged aluminum torque plates that go from $300 to $400 a pop. No doubt these are quality aftermarket & well designed products - always have been...'Fyin' Apes' are back bent...'Gangster Apes' are forward bent.

By the way with 18" of leverage on these 1 1/2" bars (they ain't lightweights) you had better have risers up to the task and a viselike gripper on the anti-rotation when you hit the brakes hard or roll over a pothole in the road. Yeah, Carlini Design has you covered there too and you would be wise to part with the cash for the upgrade.

HHR-3.jpg

This one is a RoadKind riser and should fit under the Chief riser cover...but you need to know that these are 1.5" bars and you may need to open up some clearance at the cover ends to allow the bar to fit under the stock riser cover - a minor detail but still may need attention.

May be able to stuff & hide some of that external wiring you find on the 2009/2011 Chiefs inside these 1.5" bars...doubt they ever make larger diameter bars than 1.5" but they may come out with hydroformed bars in oval, twisted and other shapes in the near future...it is just tubing and really isn't that costly to make InMyOpinion. The new BagDrag bar looks promising to...

Yes, you have to mill the risers down a bit on top and the side edges to make the cover fit. The risers work great. They have 8 bolts and 2 Allen bolt that have a Sharp end that digs into the bars so they don't move. "THEY DON'T MOVE EATHER"

Thanks for the nice words potter. You and hookah are some real cool kats. Your chopper and hookahs chief could get in any mag. I had to get in a mag because I couldn't win in a bike show! Ha ha. J/k

Too bad you don't live in New York. That is one of the critera for winning a class at Branson. Ask Kelly.

P.S. nice ride. there was a guy on here with a red bike very similiar and I always thought it was one of the best looking Gilroys I had ever seen. Not my style for riding, but like yours, beautiful to behold. Really nicework sir.

Praise be to Alex...fantastic job...looking Gangsta, Holmes!...Is it done yet?

My words on the Apes were to caution those who would mount 18 inchers on the stock risers...snap, crackle, pop. They are available with the 1" midsection from other makers as well. I had a friend collapse a lung when the bar struck his chest in a traffic mishap - oncoming cager abruptly turned left in front at intersection.

Didja get a full shoot portfolio from the Hot Bike crew? If not pester 'em till you do... hell, that cover shot probably sold quite a few newstand copies that otherwise may not have moved! :Beer-Chug[1]:

Funny, I rode with him quite a bit at Branson and two things stand out.

1) try and keep yer eyes on the road when riding behind him !!

The rear ( pillion ) on that thing is wicked hot and very distracting.

2) He doesn't need to worry bout snappin the bars, he hardly has his hands on em !!

Yes that bike was quite the crowd pleaser, and as a fellow Marine I give him much respect for his military service !! Oohrah !!

Here's PPScoutrider, his wife, Alex and Hookah in Huelet, and then Alex riding out of town giving me the wave. I think he told me at that time he had ONLY been pulled over twice in Sturgis for the Apes.

Awww, Pete, come on out here to the Great NW and you'll unnerstand. And no, it does not rain all the time. It does right on the coast, grew up there, but get inland a bit and it varies from valleys to mountains to semi-arid chaparral. It's a beauty way to go, eh? :Cheers[1]:
