I wouldn't pay more than 15,000. Maybe 12,500. I'm with you now Stu. Starting to see the light.

I think at 19,999... they are close... a little high... I'm thinking they could sell them at 18,500....

I think it should be under 20K also. I heard goal pricing was gonna be $19,999. Out the door with taxes and other bs you will be in the 20-25K so that is what I voted for. 2010 Chief Standard is 25K for a baseline.

Why the hell can't IMC call it a Scout prototype instead of a concept bike? I'll find out on Monday when I get there and ask. Looks like a modern version of a dirt track racer to me. The accordian boots on front shock and springer seat make it look old and true to Indian heritage. The engine, exhuast, tranny, brakes, swingarm look like they came off a new Chief. Nice bike and like all of the models, I'm sure it looks way betterr in person.

It reminds me of the HD Crossbones. That is around $17k

I agree. I wish they'd put an Indian head on the fender so you could tell em apart.

I think under 20k.

This bike excites me! If the price is reasonable, you will find one in my garage. My wife even said she wants one!

Pete, if you look close, there is a black fender light on there just like the dark horse.

I hope the price is low. However, it hopefully has the 105 PowerPlus and the Baker 6-speed. That would make it worth a little more that the Harley Nightster competition.

Less than 20k might be wishful thinking, but if it's more than that, I'll just be wishing and thinking!

Hell a Gilroy Scout was over 18k 8 years ago

I will retract/reverse though.... I went for the "over 25K". I think they know they can't do that. I will go with the "20 to 25" group, the base they could possibly do at 19,999 just for the price break of "under 20", but who ever wants the "base" version of anything. I nice one should hit around 22k.

As always, any comparison to HD is a loose/loose for Indian, you can only debate on style alone. Harley has over 100 years of continuous production. The Sportster 48 is a hot one, and doesn't stay in the showroom long. It's old school, fat front tire, solo seat, etc. Not a coincedence, that is the current flavor, bobber/old school is in, choppers are way, way long out. Baggers are also very in of course. Again, all they compete with is style, so it is everything.

Typical Harley Dickerson sales gals are very skilled at putting a nice low sticker price on the bikes in their show room. With permission from HQ Willy.

That's how they suck customers in and get them into the private office, where out the door prices go up hundreds [sometimes over a grand] of dollars. So, the Crotch Bones comparison don't work. In my not so humble opinion.

I would assume the engine is the same as a Chief machanically, but leaving the edges of the fins unpolished saves a lot of labor since on the Chief they are polished both before and after painting.

Since they eliminated one of the brake disks I wonder if they also eliminated 6th gear. As a side note I have been told that the "Baker 6-speed" that Indian uses is actually a rebadged import. I haven't seen one apart so I can't confirm that. Although the end cover and lid are from offshore.

Wow there big fella, If you are going to make a statement like that I would like to know the source of this information, This could be a major FU on somebodys part, Indian has advertised that it is a BAKER trans. I would think that S.J. is way too smart to try and pull bullshit like putting baker bolt-on shit on a rev-tech trans.

So where did this info come from ??? :Feet-Up[1]:

The internet of course. Lots of smack talk about the new bikes out there by dolts that like other brands and have no clue about Indians.

Well I'm not sure. As you know I build transmissions myself. I talk transmissions on the phone daily. I have heard it several times from several people but I don't remember from whom. That's why I qualified the statement.

The Baker tranys that I have repaired all had Andrews gears. You may not realize it but Jim's gears are now made offshore. I have used Daeil mainshafts and close ratio first gear sets and have never had one fail. At one time Daeil was an OEM gear vendor to H-D and was the supplier to Gilroy. For that matter they also make transmissions for Caterpeller, Ford and Suburu. They are capable of making gears to any specification. Daeil is a huge company. Check out there web sight.

I have several gear houses make me special gears but it is a very expensive propisition. For most applications I use H-D gears.

Baker has a very small operaton. Making gears inhouse is way beyond his capability.

Baker's main claim is ALL US MADE...if anything, there could be some offshore covers being used on a Baker box by IMC, Big Dog and others - but not by Bert Baker himself. Anything more and I am sure they would not or could not use 'the Baker Name'. There are many 'outhouse' sources for gears right here in Michigan & in this business climate there is little reward for going offshore - domestic companies are quite hungry for work and have extremely competitve pricing with the highest quality standards adhered to. Bert Baker worked as a powertrain engineer for GM before starting his own company up the road from me.

I have a cataloge from Sputhe Engineering from 1998. It is chock full of interesting and enlightening products - some no longer in production. A visit to Allan's illustrated site is well worth the time spent.

Captain Bob knows his stuff, has been 'in the business' as long as anyone out there and is always worth listening to when explaining the best solution to transmission & engine issues. Joel, this man is no 'dolt'.
