Brock
Picked me up another bow for hunting....first new one since 1998/9. I was going to hunt with my very first recurve I bought as an adult back in 1992 and was shooting it for past month....but might have to put her away for the new bitch! Shot her in yard tonight....slings a heavy wooden douglas fir arrow right nicely even with 160gr point and big old turkey barred fletching LOL Who is up for a bear hunt next Spring...bow only in Saskatchewan. Mike???? I have been hunting with recurves, longbows and selfbows since late 1980s...after shooting compounds a few years before but got bored. Pretty much shoot everything with stick and string now a days...deer, hog, rabbit, squirrel, bear, turkey. Still use shotgun for dove and quail....as I can barely hit them with a double barrel 20g much less a bow. LOL I am also in middle of making one out of some pignut hickory that is about 70% done...and have a stave of yew sitting here as well for next one. Robertson Stykbow 60" 52#@28", Coco Bolo and Myrtle riser, Juniper limbs with bamboo core Other bows: Jeffery Royal Hunter 62" 60#@28, Mtn Camo riser, red oak limbs. Habu 64" 60#@29, brown riser, brown limbs Joe Mattingly made Osage selfbow, 52# at 28", elk grip, static recurve tips Arrows: 31" Douglas Fir, 65-70#, 160 Ribtek heads 30.5" Sitka Spruce, 65-70#, 160 Snuffer heads 31" Chundoo, 50-55#, 160 Ribtek heads I know Mike (Hunters Friend) is a bowhunter...and so is BOWHUNTER....anyone else shoot a bow.....wheels, primitive or traditional? tostein
Nice looking long bows!!!! I started bow hunting last year for the very first time. My kids got me into it. Missed a buck @ 25yds............I didn't think I could get the fever like that at my age. I really like it. As much fun as plugging a deer @ 400 yds. with the .300. I befriended an outfitter from Wyoming that comes up here and hunts whitetail on some of the land I farm, so he bought me a new Limbsaver wheel bow. Love it. Brock
yeah it is addictive....shooting deer with a rifle got boring..was more about my accuracy than hunting after a while but hunting like this will humble you...especially with traditional or primitive. I have went from 7-10 deer a year to just a couple if I am lucky. LMAO :D keep em sharp, brock
