Airwolf
KM Indian and Rick Doss recently reached an agreement for the patent on his teardrop headlight. Good for Rick and good on Kings Mountain...that headlight is as distinctive as the skirts are to me!
Scottdog
I know there is some way to twist that distinction to being about you wearing a skirt. I just haven;t figured it out yet.

Good for Rick and good on Kings Mountain...that headlight is as distinctive as the skirts are to me! JW at CH had said that he had reached an agreement with Doss and that he now owned the rights to the headlite patent. Hmmm, what kind of skirts do you like? I have original prints of the early Indian fenders.

I have no knowledge of that...KM was giving Rick a bit of a run around until JW told Rick to tell KM he had a buyer for the patent and that person was JW. I guess that was enough of an incentive for KM to settle quick!!

I guess that was enough of an incentive for KM to settle quick!! Well you know how JW makes things up. He also said that he was going to patent the turn and running lites so KM would have to pay him. I do know that JW said Rick wanted about $50,000 for the rights but as Rick only got I $7.00 for each one Gilroy used would it have been worth really much of anything because if Km had paid him for the 4-500 they had built then he would have only made a few bucks. So it goes in the big world of patents and finance. CCI gave the patent back to Rick. Hope he got a lot.

You probably know a LOT more about this situation than I do. But, from what I understand Indian gave "Rick a bit of a run around " on paying until it was very clear who legally owned the rights. It would be pretty shortsighted to pay someone for IP if it is not 100% clear who is the legal owner ... especially when a bankruptcy is involved as in the case of CCI.
