XV62
Don't care much for the bike either. Engine is interesting though. PowerPlus, or rather VPlus with the valves and intake and exhaust reversed.
techspec
Not me. Looks like something that one of those crazy customizers built out of an engine JW gave away. Made not a dollar on any of the give aways and no business either. Took the dual carb heads off of Steve's bike plus the cylinders, cam and pistons and sold then "atleast" to Perawitz or whatever his name is and he put them on a bike he sold to Allstate Ins.that they contracted with him to build. He probably made a bundle of course and then CH couldn't replace any of the parts. So it goes in this business, take from Peter to make a buck.

hasbin
I thought Baisley was doing the head-work for CH??
Scottdog
They made their own flywheels? I'm impressed.
techspec
I thought Baisley was doing the head-work for CH?? No Dan will not perform work on CH heads any longer and for your info CH doesn't balance engines and never has since I worked there. Baisley was going to develop heads for CH but when problems arose between Dexter and CH he stopped. He advised me that I was wise to seperate from CH. Dan Baisley has a top notch company and is well respected by everyone in the industry. I think that just maybe JW gave a stock engine to the curtomizer and he had them modified to his specs. CH never did make flywheels but I did see a few blowflys on the Arg. Wheels.

hasbin
I have seen some of Dans work (top notch) I have only heard good things about the quality of his shop
techspec
How many motors ya think they gave away? How many are sitting on the shelf? How many got built? Approximatly 42 I think I built more or less. I could call both Sputhe Eng and get the number of cases he machined and Dexter and get the correct amount if needed. I think about only 5 before I was there. I think around 10 Ch gave away maybe more. On the shelf when I left were 4 rebuilt engines with Indian on them and 1 grey engine that I think was for Brass Balls. Supposed to go to Australia but the sale did not materialize while I was there. I heard today that JW and crew were going in a different direction whatever that means. Maybe entering Ape from 196th street and leaving by 72 ave. Maybe though JW has the idea that a bike or the components can be built in China at the Ape facilities there. They bought some new equipment last year to machine Pile Drivers there and David his son, (great young man by the way) told me they had found a frame maker there. Good luch as times are tough right now in the M/C business and without a good track record it gets tougher.

Was it the builder from Medford, Ore.? He is a nice fellow but for riders the custom stuff is just"ART". He does however rebuild Hd engines also. Mark Daley, Thunderstruck Custom Cycles, Medford OR. I don't buy the magazine the article was in, American Cycle, but it was in the box with some chrome schitt I just received from J&P. As I said earlier, I thought the engine was interesting. Edited March 2, 2010 by Vintage62
