Falcon
The linked story reveals that Graham County, NC, will no longer send its ambulances into Swain County to the Tail of the Dragon. Because of the roads, it is quicker to get help to the NC portion of US 129 from Graham County than from Swain County, where the road is located. Because each county has to pay its ambulance service from local revenue, Graham County is saying they can no longer afford to send ambulances to a location where they receive no revenue. So if you wreck on the Tail of the Dragon next year, it may take as much as 50 minutes for the Rescue Squad to get there, up from around 20 minutes. According to the story, Graham County authorities say that service to US 129 cost them around $100,000 per year. http://www.thesunnews.com/564/story/1093956.html
