What a remarkable life. He was still playing once a week at the Iridium club in N.Y. He did more for modern music than anyone else in the 20th century, because he had it covered from both sides - as a musician and as a technician. And he was, by all reports, just one helluva nice guy.

 

R.I.P. Les, you've left an amazing legacy.
