airheads
I'm really stoked about the new Indian, especially after reading about the factory tour. So much so, that I'm almost ready to shell out $1000 to reserve a Chief. I think the most persuasive bit was Brock willing to part with his RHB. The biggest obstacle for me in not putting the money down is I live in WA state, which is a fair piece from Kings Mountain. So say I do put the money down, where would I have to go to get the bike? NC? Because they will be the only dealer open when the bike comes out? Or would I have to shell out another $1000 to have it shipped? I get the bike and ride it for the first 1000 miles and where do I go to get it serviced? I know these points have been brought up in various posts, but was wondering if the guys that got the factory tour asked any of these things or are at liberty to say? Is there any indication on when the factory will stop offering the reservation? Is there any price cut the 'reserved' guys will get? I know - I read the reservation form that the final purchase price will be negotiated between buyer and dealer - but also that IMC can set MSRP. Isn't the first dealer a 'factory' dealer, so they could set any price - or any discount? Lots of questions but it would be nice to know a little more before I drop the cash! TallRider
airheads . . . same here . . . but maybe living in the upper left hand corner of the continguous forty-eight is a blessing in disguise. That might make the wait a little easier to take and you can hang on to that grand for a while. I'm sure that somewhere on the I5 corridor between here and Portland there will be a dealership. If I'm not mistaken, the Seattle IIRA group is one of if not the largest chapter, so there is certainly a market. I'll just have to vicariously enjoy Brock getting his new ride . . . as I'm sure we all will be constantly nagging him to take pictures. Hell - he and Maldev ought to join forces and make a documentary of this momentous purchase!

Last Resort
when the new bikes hit the road all questions will be answered untill then its just a deposit holding your place in line . And it is fully refundable or transferable. So lets say you have your place in line but decide the price is too high or there is no dealer close enough or you do not like the dealer. You can get your money back or you can sell your place in line to someone who can't wait but did not get in line.

You can get your money back or you can sell your place in line to someone who can't wait but did not get in line. That's my point - there will only be one dealer at the time the bikes come out (at least by all indications) and that dealer will be too far away for service or anything else. I'm sure there would be a lot more Chiefs reserved if IMC had something laid out for delivery of the bike or service until a dealer comes into my area. I wouldn't be hesitating putting the money down if they said delivery to your area is going to cost X and you can have your service done at Billybob's until we construct our WA state dealership. Brock
IF my RHB sells...I plan on putting down money and then when they are released worrying about it. Though I am only 4 hours away.....I would do the same from Florida or Texas. All the money does is ensure you get one of the 2009 bikes...anything above and beyond that I have no idea. Guess we will find out together if my bike sells. If not I will be riding the RHB all summer and saving for her sister...LOL
firebird77clone
I made it through with my 01 without warranty... warranty, you need a stinking warranty? But seriously... no way am I going to get ANOTHER vehicle whose nearest authorized wrench is 100 miles away. fuhgettaboutit. Now, if they are willing to compensate my local wrench for warranty work, or some such BS I'll give it more thought.

Tahoe Chief
We are in a remote area that is cost and time prohibitive for alot of the factory service reps like sub zero or viking, and dacor just to name a couple,so we are factory trained by these manufactures and then reimbursed for services rendered on their be half. The customer receives true factory quality service that does not void the manufacturers warranty,so they win ,and we win because we do the job at our normal service rates and get the latests manufacturer training. And we absolutely do provide the highest level of appliance service available any where. So the customer truly does win, since alot of the factory reps are lets say a bit green and not quite as motivated for the long term relationship we look for . Any way you can get good service out side the factory.
