THANK YOU OFFICER....

I was returning Sunday night from a great long weekend of buying, riding, racing. Basically, I flew to Prospect Oregon to make the cash for bike exchange after my eBay win. Ride on down to Monterey to watch the US Moto Gran Prix (Sport bike races, more on that later) - had a great weekend. The wife is pulling the trailer home and I am riding the wing - so off I go through thousands upon thousands of cars and eventually near the front of south bound traffic - saw the Highway Patrol was in force as not one, not two - but three sport bikes had been pulled over as I ventured south - so I'm thinking - OK they got it out of their system, lets see what this tourer can do.

I still am weaving the lanes working my way to the front with the setting sun square in my rearview - and I see this bike riding the center lane - really moving on me - I give it a little gas and I'm sailing along at 100 (70 speed limit in this area). So the guy keeps coming and I'm thinking “Man where is a cop when you need him? These dudes that need to do over 100 in traffic really get me.....”

So, blinded by the light and touring at 100 I'm taking in scenery - look right, look left and I "sense a presence". I look down at the road under my right arm and see, to my chagrin, a white Harley fender - intentionally backed off to my speed and just pacing me. Look over and it is highway patrol. He cocks his head and grins, points to his speedo and gives me the thumbs down sign - like back it off - NOW. So, I do down to about 77 and he peels off and takes the next exit. Man, I am truly blessed to be in California - where the riding is fantastic and you even get a break from 'ol Smokey once in awhile. Now If I lived in - West Virginia Is It? I'd have to sell the bike to pay for the ticket. Ah yes, it is good to be me sometimes.

Here is my new ride - I stopped once for the scenery on the way down from Oregon – Mt Shasta in the background. Beautiful area – gonna see it twice more this year. Next month I have about an 1800 mile vacation on two wheels with my gal – its all good.

Hey it wasn't his bike - for all I know when he pulled off the ramp he blew the engine! LOL

Alright then. That makes sense. Either that or you were going downhill and didn't realize it.

It's all a lie.

Guess you guys missed the TRAILER part.

We all know Blackdog don't ride. Heck, every time I see him his bike is on a trailer or in the back of his pickup.

Last time I saw his pick up, your bike was in the back.

No, I didn't get a trailer for it to pull - yet. Maybe I will though. Wife is looking to camp and well, you know - blow dryer, make-up bag, unmentionables, and that's just me - wait until you see what she's packing!!!! We're putting together a bunch of long distance travel plans in the future... Hey can anybody think of a good reason to stop as we pass through Kansas City - you know, flying by Olathe?? I hear there is really nothing there.

:Cheers[1]:

you should have got off your bike and went over and kissed the cops feet just for making you slow down. 100 mph on a motorcycle is like russian roulette. i do it too at times. it is insanity. wish there was an automatic arm that would come up and slap me upside my stupid head when i do it.

Thanks Shanda - yes she loves it already - very comfortable for her. I still need boards, iso grops and vented windshield to make it comfy for me. I like it for touring - but I find that I start falling asleep much sooner - darned things are just so smooth. with the horizontal 6 and shaft drive and iso pegs I actually found myself nodding a few times while travelling through rural Oregon. Weather was 65 to 80 steroe was on and there was no other sound. After awhile the visual stimulation of beautiful scenery wasn't enough I had to stop and walk around a bit!! It will be nice for distance touring though - just need a good nights' sleep!

Got stopped just this week-- for running the toll booth on our famous Turnpike. Seems the EZ pass I had in my mouth didnt register ( it never does) Hiway patrol stopped me, explained why, and after I showed him the EZ pass--- told me I had a beautiful bike and invited me to his car club show next week. I thanked him for his service, and rode away happy. Now I gotta glue the EZ pass to my helmet or somewhere- !!!

And yeah-- the ticket would a been $187.00--- more for going 100 MPH.

Nice Wing by the way. Gonna have one after STU gets his GLIDE-- Randa wants to travel around w Carrie !! :o

Speaking of trailers, camping, room for wife's gear ona motorsickle and such schitt, here is my solution to that ongoing problem plus I'm gonna use it for bivouacing on the jobsites. I was just told my next site is no closer to the house than the last one and I'm sick of motel life.

Now that is what I'm talkin bout....That Freedom 16 footer - or something like it will be in Pennys and my future - THAT is the way to go camping and touring. Home base and the 1,000's of miles around wherever you set up.

Then Again - could always hitch it up...
