BAL
Well the ride is over and it was a blast... First I wish to thank CKelley/Sherry and Brock for letting me crash at their place... mother nature was kind, only twice did I get really soaked... once in S Boston, an hour from my cuzs where I stopped for the night... the other in Maine but it only lasted a few miles... had the rain suit on but think I would of been better off just riding though and air drying... the bike ran great. had some oil leakage from both heads but nothing that even covered a half a fin by the time the trip was over... she did not start once at south of the border after I filled up, glad I had an extra relay (thanks Brock for the making the swap quick and simple)... really that was it for mechanical issues... I'm ready for a trip back to the Blue Ridge and then off to S. Cal I think.... had to fatten up the mixture on the highway to keep the plugs brown... averaged 43 mpg and never went over 210 degrees (even in what the New Englanders called a heat wave, high 90s... wimps) but then again I stopped in Grand Lake Stream, Maine and did not continue on to Canada due to it was to cold for my blood in the 50s... I was on I-495, 95 degrees, stopped for an accident, in full leathers with no issues but get below 60 and out comes the extra layers of clothes... Came across a biker vs. moose in Pittsfield, Maine, neither one won... met a lot of pissed off drivers in the Boston area, man if they would only stop and look at themselves... never have I seen road rage like there... glad to be home, lots of cleaning to do... Navychief
BAL, Good to see you made it home safe.....any pics to post? razputin, If you are thinking of doing the same thing and not wanting to go through DC area, there is always the option of hooking up on Rt 13 in Norfolk, VA head over the ChesBay Bridge and up through DelMarVa and pick up I95 in NJ. ChesBay Bridge will cost you a toll of $12 one way and Rt 13 does have stop lights, but its a great ride.....just be careful for the MD Troopers....get ya everytime! Yeppir... that's the way I go to Ocean City... once out of Norfolk it's a breeze... the Eastern Shore is a nice easy ride... and the bay bridge tunnels are pretty cool too... super-pave
Glad to hear of a good trip once in a while. Check into a banjo breather set-up might help the oil leak. j&p cycle try S100 for fast degreasing
Micmac
Brad, glad you had a safe trip. Lotta nut drivers there (not Maine, the rest of your route though) Stop here the next time! Super-Pave, they started putting S-100 in Areosol cans. It is an inferior product now, I just threw a can away and will never buy it again and I have used it over 20 years. I had white spots everywhere, and yes I followed the instructions to the letter. I am speaking of the cleaner, I am unaware of a degreaser. super-pave
Don't use the S100 especially if the motors been running, and the catch can is overkill - just run a breather hose with or w.o. a filter, maybe, if thats OK. Four thousand miles - way to go.
