Riverside -- Seven people were arrested for growing some 14,000 marijuana plants in several Inland Empire houses that were converted into pot hothouses, officials announced Saturday.

Authorities seized the plants, with an estimated street value between $60 to $80 million, Friday morning in several homes throughout San Bernardino and Riverside Counties.

The homes, each were over 2,000 square feet, were converted into nurseries meant to nurture thousands of marijuana plants in various stages of growth.

Sophisticated cultivation systems were installed, including 1,000-watt sun lamps, heavy-duty electrical circuits, industrial-sized air purifiers and wall fans. Several hundred gallons of liquid fertilizer were also found.

The suspects stole an estimated $30,000 worth of electricity at each house over several months, and installed in every structure was an elaborate drip irrigation and water recycling system.

We been havin a couple dozen busted like that this year. The new thing.

You find a couple that will sign on and the deal is you take a mortgage of the house, you make the payments and set it up for hydroponics and grow lighting, massive R factor insulation and processing and packaging. They stay in the house and tend the garden for two years, you split each plant's profit with 'em fitty fitty and then if they want you buy out the mortgage and give 'em the keys or sell the joint and split the profit or they can stay in the game and you just move the deal on to another house.

Nobody seems to connect the downturn in the existing home market with the increase in pothouse busts. Since the housing market is a key indicator, one might argue that pot is good for America. Quiet, keep up the appearance of the property, pay they bills on time, no wild parties or cars parked onna street, perfect neighbors.

Wow I dont know if its just early or I havent had enough coffee but that actually made since Pop! So basically if we take the present existing homes and turn them into pothouses we would be bolstering the exisiting housing market and the economy at the same time and finally be able to label a product "Made in America" again.... Hell works for me
