Vintage229
Maybe it's needed due to all the hot air that comes out of that garage. (Damn, did I say that out loud?)
charliebates
Man, I hate my Craftsman lift! Browsing around..found this: Picture bout says it all... A warning about these lifts,...my friend Norm was taking his HD off the lift ( it's dropped into the floor & so no ramp) & the front wheel hits the up lift control,...up it goes & he's on the bike & getting the ride of his life,...right to the top,..he & the bike go over to the right,...the bike hits the wall & the wind shield bends 90 degrees ,...the lift starts to tip the other way & then it reached the top,...the bike is on it's side & wedged between the wall & the lift that's tipped to 45 degrees,..he's afraid it's going to come down on top of him but everything just stops. In the end no injuries & only scratches on the windshield,...Norms lucky today.
fungus
the ones I've seen have an OSHA type cover that you have to stick your toe into to hit the up / down switch......like in most factories...sounds like your friend couls use one....glad to hear he and the bike are ok...could have been a lot worse for sure..... My lift has the controller on a hose that puts it on the floor, away from the lift, opposite the side you "wheel" the bike off from. Sounds like there might be a little more to that story. Scott,...he was taking the bike off the lift ,...the control is not attached to anything & just sits off to the right & about centered with the lift,..he hit it with the front tire while jocking the bike to angle & back it out. He always disconnected the air to the controller for safety , but this time he didn't. He needs to get the controller fastenned to the concrete & out of reach from the lift. Did I mention that Norm is 70 & badly over weight? That's why I built it into the floor for him. John

I always stand next to it holding the handle bars and just wheel it on or off. Guess the problem must have been the 'ol "nut behind the handlebars." The top of the lift is level with the top of the floor when it's in the lowered position,...& so you don't have any on or off the lift problems,...it's no differant than level floor once you release from the wheel clamp,...& so Norm gets on it & backs it out of the garage & down the driveway. Differant strokes for differant folks is all. John
Potter
I have a double wide Handy lift. I need it that wide so I can put in on the lift by myself. I ride it on the lift because there is no room for a running start. The driveway is on a hill. I've hit the foot valve before too. Scares the shit out of you. hasbin
I like the idea of a "flush mount" bike lift, Looks like I bring home the c/c saw from work & cut up the garage floor, The only question now is, Do I cut for 2 lifts or just one ????
