judgebob99
This is just a post to let all know who care to know, know about the Swede's trip back,, so far As some of you know, Sunday after the rally, Thomas's bike quit him in Salisal, Ok. well as is my custom after the Rally, mscathy and I always spend 1 night in Eureka Springs, Ark on our journey home.. Well Hunter's Friend called me that night and asked if I could lend them a hand,, I thought, it is 250 miles out of my way to go to Salisal,, but what the hell ,, We picked up a new coil and igniton in Rogers, Ark, (thanks to Cherokee Chief's help) and headed to Salisal,, when we got there we put the new coil on, and it was of no help, so we unloaded my bike & loaded up Thomas's bike. then Thomas and I took off across Ok,, I rode Helen's, as I had never ridden a Sprout before.. when we got to Elk City, Thomas told me that he had never ridden so far, so fast, so long in all his life,(was just normal I-40 ridding to me).. Well, we left Thomas & Helen in Elk city with my bike and hers, with instructions on how to get to Gruver, Tx. As I had to be to work the next morning,, and I hoped that I could have his bike running by the time they got to my house. Well I went into then next morning and about 9:45. mscathy called and told me that my bike had quit Thomas just out of Elk City, and I was to call him at the local quik trip,, I called and told them I would try to be there in the next 5 hours (190 mileds away), As I was prepareing to leave my house with a trailer , I got a call , and they had run into a tow trck driver from Amarillo, who said he would tow my bike to amarillo for free, and they wanted to know if that would be ok,, I said "Yes", as it is just 100 miles from my house to Amarillo. I arrived in Amarillo just after they did,, went and bought the best ribeye steaks I could find in Amarillo, some mushrooms, and good fresh veggies, and a salmon steak (Helen does not eat meat), & headed to Gruver,, when we arrived there, some nonbiker friends came out and helped mscathy and Helen prepare the supper, while Thomas and I worked on his bike,(my nonbiker friend is a hell of a steak cook). we got the igition on and the meal was ready,, one of the best steaks I have had in years.. we all visited and went to bed,, the next day our Swedish friends said they would like to stay another day ,, and we were honored to have them,, mscathy & I went to work, and left them to relax & explore,, that evening I got home and Thomas was cleaning out my garage (it was filthy). we had hamburgers & shrimp that night ,,we visited till about 11:30.. the next morning I hung around and visited with them till it warmed up.. 11:30 (was just 60 by then), I let them shoot some pistols,, and things they don't get to do in Sweden,, I talked to them last night & they were almost to Arizonia,, they are heading to Brave Hearts place in Phoniex.. What started out to be a pain in the ass, turned into one of the most enjoyable 3 days I have had in a while,, I am now so glad I got the call form Hunter's Friend Sunday night,, and can not wait to see the swede's agin,, just goes to show,, you never miss a chance to help someone out

Blackdog
judgebob - that is a great story - thanks. Yep the Swedes are great folks and this community of Indian riders both here and in the IIRA are great folks. Helping each other and sharing an interest in Indians - doesn'y get any better than that. Falcon
So is the secret to getting you to throw a BBQ party having your bike towed 100 miles for free, or finding a sprout for you to ride? Glad you were able to help them out and get them on their way. I agree, it's always great to make new friends, especially when it is adversity that brings you together. And those 'other' things they don't get to do in Sweden.....wouldn't be illegal now, would they Bob?

Viking
Well now we're back home in Scania, and sure, it's allways nice to come home, but I gotta say I can't wait to see ya'll again. We could write a book about this tripp. All the places, all the miles of riding, the breakdowns, (two), but most of all the wonderful people we met on our way, and some of them becourse of the breakdowns. Funny how things turn out. At Branson Helen and I were talking about that sometimes you meet people you'd like to spend more time with, in this case quite some, and thanks to a failing ignition we were given the oppertunity to do just that. Then there's all those we did'nt meet this time, but hopefully will meet later. Seems like ages since we met Frank, Dittoman, Posie, Kelley and Mike at the eastcoast, and then everything in between 'til we finally are back home now. You all made our stay to a true plesaure. To Mike and Handan, all we can say, you have'nt seen the last of us. Thank you all for making us feel like old friends.
Vintage229
Well now we're back home in Scania, Thomas, it seems like it was such a long time ago since you and Helen were here. Must be nice to be able to take all that time off and just cruise around on the Chief. It was great meeting the both of you and I hope you got your fill of Washington DC. It's a great place to visit. Now that you're home I have to ask...................................... ..............are you missing the raw oysters? Hunters Friend
One of the classic lines of IRIP. We went out the first night to dinner with about 25 of us, Helen and Thomas included. Seeing an opportunity to kick the IRIP off in fine fashion for Helen and Thomas, I tell the folks sitting at our table that we are going to take up a collection to pay for their meal. We then tell someone over at the 2nd table (where H and T were sitting) to let the others at the table know we are doing this as well. About 30 minutes later Bruce (4Paws) Holtan comes up to me and whispers in my ear "Thomas wants to know who he needs to give him money to. Apparently there is some sort of a collection going on and we don't know what it is for." LOL God bless them and God bless you JB, Cathy, Rick, Teresa and Kevin. I was relieved to know they broke down within a 1,000 miles of you. From then on, we knew they would be alright. Helen and Thomas, what an honor it was to have you here this year. Truly an honor through and through. Thank you for making the time for the trip. Warmest regards, Mike and Handan
JohnQ
Thomas & Helen What a pleasure to meet the both of you! Next time you come this way I would be honored if you would stay with us and allow us to guide you through some of the most beautiful country you will ever see, Yosemite, and the surrounding area! From coast line to high mountain peaks! You will always have a home here! John Q (03 Blackberry Scout)

Viking
Yeah Mike, I realy do look forward to the next time I'll slurp some barely dead animals of the sea,... then again maybe not THAT much. You're right though, it do feel like a long time ago, but then again, we've had more happening in these three months than we will in the rest of the year. About the dinner in Branson, we did not only get food, but also new friends AND a good laugh. When my neighbour at the table wispered to me that we should make a little donation so that we could pay the couple's dinner, I said what couple, and he said I dont know, so we just guessed it was Mikes folks, 'course they sat at our table too, then I told 4Paws, and he asked the same question as I did earlier, but he did'nt leave it at that, he went'n asked Mike. After a wile he came back, shaking hes head. I asked him: "Who, who????. He just shooked hes head and kind of laughed, leaned towards me and said: "It's you"! I said what, 'course I still did'nt get it. He said again: -"It's you who are the couple". Well, thank you all for a memorable dinner, the first at IRIP, but surely not the last. We had a nice week at IRIP, meeting many good people, and that includes you Charger, even if you and Helen became so close, but you know what, I trust you that you would'nt take advantage of the situation, you would'nt, would you, huh? Me and Helen will see ya'll later, and hopefully see that most beautiful part of the land John. About IRIP, you're right, it was'nt just a rally, it truely was a homecoming.
