Suppose you are all aware of the honey bee problem?

Recommended Posts

Disappearing at an alarming rate (not finding dead bodies, just missing bees) worldwide. Here's an article about it discussing possible pesticide/fungicide role: http://www.organicconsumers.org/articles/article_4557.cfm.

Let's hope what ever it is that is making them go out and not come home doesn't end up collapsing the other bee species hives, and that the remaining butterflies, bees, wasps, hornets, beetles, bats, and moths can sufficiently pollinate our fruit trees until the populations can be restored.

The question I have is where are they going? If they aren't dying at the hive and didn't take their queen, they either couldn't find their way back or they took off with a new queen. But that's a lot of bees to just disappear around the world.

About the only thing the entimologists know for sure right now is that this loss cannot be attributed to Africanized bees. Reason? Bee disappearances are occuring in places far North (and overseas) of where Africanized bees have reached. Definite clue is that moths that usually move into abandonded hives aren't.

Y'all got any ideas? We can discuss it just as well as Congress.

I dunno...might be some rogue queens gathering up a bunch of troops to do battle with the advancing Africanized horde of death......

There's a theory goin around that it's caused by cell phones; can't find their way back due to the cell phone signals interrupting their navigating system.

Hell I want even run them over anymore when I'm mowing over some clover. Mowed the grass this weekend and would spook them away. Call me crazy I guess?!

I know exactly what is happening to them in my area, they are clogging the grill of my truck and smacking me in the face when I ride the bike. We have a shit ton of them around my house and they seem to reproduce faster then they can commit suicide on my forehead. Little bastages hurt.

Ain't that the truth....

I had one (of the millions I ride through yearly) last summer fly inside my full face helmet as I approached my cycle parking on campus (I had put up my visor due to the heat). Lil' f@cker wedged between my cheek and the helmet - it pissed him off so much he stung me repeatedly - face swelled up like a grapfruit for a few hours. He's dead now - I lived to tell about it - LOL.
