Micmac
Check your rotors regularly. I changed my rims last summer and found my rear one to be cracked, I believe this has happened to Last Resort and a few others on here. I'm not saying that's what happened, but it could've too me. Gary2Wheels
....yeah,I saw this a few weeks back.....bad deal. There was a defect in alignment of some rear brake caliper mounts on early Chiefs, causing the rotor to bind and overheat.Could be this is what caused the problem. It involved a factory recall by the NTSB as I recall... Gary2Wheels
.....there's an NHTSA recall on the 2000 Chief swingarm bolts made by Sway-Away,which may break.Could be this was the cause recall #02V124000,date 4/30/2002
snogoer
Wouldn't have anything to do with a worn primary belt snapping because it overheated in those barely vented cases would it? Um...That old belt wrapping around the clutch would lock em up fast...My advice to the dry primary brothers...I mean this.....Spend 45 green backs and vent those bastards and maintain those belts! snogoer
You talkin a vented cover? Yep, Vented derby Cover $45 or a complete vented primary outer for about $150... If any folks want one I will sell them at cost for the safety reason not profit...My cost through V-twin is about $130 and some change plus shipping...
